All hope returns to you.

He’s come to save you.

“Scorpion! Do you have my lover?!”

“Stupid kitty.” The Scorpion’s voice lowers. “By the time I’m done, there will be no lover.”

Chapter 5

The Battle

The bearded man carries you into a massive warehouse. Wooden crates and massive metal boxes are stacked all over the space.

Scorpion and several guys run up ahead.

You pray to God that Scorpion won’t win and take you away.

Kazimir and his men didn’t slow down. Their boots pound forward, matching the thumping of your heart and you know they’re so close.

Scorpion frantically glances over his shoulder. “Hurry up!”

His men barrel forward.

Sweat trickles down Scorpion’s forehead. “And get your goddamned guns out! Be ready!”

You struggle in the bearded man’s hold, hoping to slow him down.

You succeed.

He’s forced to stop and put you down for a few seconds and get a different grip on you. Soon as he plants your feet on the ground, you shove against him, and waddle away in the other direction.

Scorpion yells, “Get her!”

He runs toward you, and somehow you pick up your pace. Your lungs burn. Your legs ache.

The bearded man gets close and reaches for your arm. You dart to the side and scream, “Kazimir! Kazimir!”

Hurrying away, you wonder if he heard you.

Your question is answered when Kazimir’s deep voice roars back, “Novoluniye!”

“I’m here!” You scream back.

Bearded guy captures your waist.

You stumble backwards and hit at his face, but his grip is solid.

He pulls you to him, and places a hand over your mouth.

You struggle against him, but he’s too strong to overcome. He drags you to him and wraps his arm around your neck.

“You should have never done that.” Scorpion glares at you and gestures at the bearded man. “Kill that bitch!”

The bearded man lifts an AK-47 in your direction.

Terror chills your spine. You stiffen, your fear of death seizes you like an icy hand tightening around your throat.

The end is coming.
