Kazimir’s sexy voice fills the car. “Have you been to Crete?”

You tell him no.

“You’ll love it. Crete is a diverse and vibrant land stacked with ancient ruins, fun cities, and breathtaking beaches.” He speeds past another car, takes one hand off the steering wheel, and holds your hand. “Many people come here for the sun, sea, and sand, but we have arrived to celebrate the beginning of our forever.”

You tell him everything that’s been on your mind.

“We are going to have an amazing life,Novoluniye.”

You grin, knowing the truth of his statement.

“Before we go to our place, let me show you around. Would you like that?”

You nod.

Overjoyed, he hits the accelerator and it feels like you both are going two hundred miles per hour. Your heart pumps with exhilaration. A buzz of adventure slides across your skin.

You look out of the window.

Crete is a magical mountainous island with rugged, yet breathtaking beauty. The land rises and falls like a gentle wave. Olive groves and grapevines line the twisting roads. Many vines spill out of doorways and along walls to create natural awnings. A mosaic of greens, browns, and oranges coat the mountains, valleys, cliffsides, and streams.

You lower the window. The air grows warm and rides the scent of flowers, spices, and pure happiness.

Kazimir points everything out, breaking down the geography.

You learn that Crete is a dramatic island chain. The coast on its west side is broken by the rough sea, and the east coast by a series of harbors and fishing villages. The north coast is dominated by the imposing Mount Ida, rising behind the north coast.

Kazimir tells you all about how this land is full of great mystery and ancient lore. There are towers, avenues, and hidden paths.

Kazimir grins, “According to Greek mythology, the first queen of Crete was Europa.”

You lean away from the window and look at him.

“Later on, Crete island became the land of King Minos.” Kazimir weaves through two vehicles and speeds past them. “The legend is that the king refused to sacrifice a bull to the gods.”

You widen your eyes.

“Pissed, Poseidon punished King Minos by making his wife fall in love with a bull. From this union, theMinotaurwas born and was hidden in a labyrinth.” Kazimir takes you along a beautiful cliffside. “Therefore, King Minos forced the Athenians to send seven young girls and boys to Crete every year, to offer them as a sacrifice to the Minotaur.”

You’re blown away by the story.

Kazimir continues, “This birthed the famous tale of the mythical hero Theseus, the son of the King of Athens.”

You’re enraptured with the details.

“Theseus left Athens with the young Athenians set to be offered to the Minotaur. With the help of Ariadne who happened to be King Minos’s daughter, Theseus managed to kill the Minotaur and find his way out of the labyrinth.”

The drive continues with more ancient lore and breathtaking views of Crete.

Finally, Kazimir heads back to that castle that you spotted long ago out of the jet’s window.

The closer you get, the more you realize that this impressive structure resides on a cliffside. There even looks to be a gorgeous beach outlining the back.

Kazimir pulls up to the castle and turns off the engine.

He turns to you with a big grin on his face. “This is your first engagement gift.”

You widen your eyes in shock.
