The words and the actions make perfect sense in harmony, and they don’t crash and burn like they did in reality. In my dream, she wants nothing more than to actually be with me, properly. This isn’t just sex for her either, she wants it all. A happy ever after.
I don’t even know if that’s what I want, but in my dream world, where consequences don’t mean a thing, I can let those feelings rise to the surface. I can embrace them and imagine what it would be like to actually be with her.
As I lose myself, my dream swirls and transforms until I’m holding her hand, snuggling into Lexi as she sidles closer to me. We’re in a house… our house. Our little home with our family upstairs. I don’t know how I suddenly know all of that, I just do.
I have it all, and it’s the most exciting thing to ever happen to me. I’m the luckiest man alive.
There’s a part of me that knows instinctively that I need to turn this into my reality. Or at the very least try. I know, IknowI have New York in the pipeline, which does complicate things, but in the middle of this dream it doesn’t feel like any of that is going to be an issue at all. It truly feels like I can have it all. Even if it’s imaginary her in my arms, and it’s only a dream, she feels oh so real and I adore it.
I sink deeper into Lexi’s arms and kiss her all over, preparing us both for round two. Because I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get enough of that beautiful body of hers. We’ve only just got started, and there is still so much for me to learn, so much for me to see. I peel her clothing off, tasting her all over, taking her nipple between my lips and driving her wild.
I want to be inside of her again!
My God, I’m like a drug addict and she’s my next hit. I want to drive myself into her over and over again.
I don’t want to wake up, I really don’t. But when I do, I know deep within me that I’m going to do whatever it takes to get Lexi to go out on a real date with me. I need to, just in case. I don’t want to miss out on something just because my head is in New York City. I don’t see why we can’t just give it a try. I’m just going to make sure that I do things right this time around.
Romance, I’m going to have to give it a try. I don’t usually need it and I certainly don’t have any experience in that area, but I’m sure the risk will be worth the rewards.
In fact, I’m positive of it.
If I can turn that frown into a smile, then it’ll all be worth it.

LEXI
“…hey, Lexi?” Mom waves her hand in front of my face. “Are you even listening to me?”
Damn it, I keep doing that! I keep drifting off and getting lost in my thoughts about everything going on around me. It’s bad enough when I do that with Mya, but with my hawk-eyed mother, it’s a big mistake. She will never let it go.
“Err, yeah I’m fine.” I force myself to smile. “Sorry just a little bit tired.”
“Hmm right.” She narrows her eyes at me. “Just tired? You don’t have anything else going on? I have been worried about you, because of where you work.”
She doesn’t mention the Macauley family, but she doesn’t need to, I know exactly what she’s getting at. I don’t want to tell her everything for obvious reasons, but I might start to share a little bit.
Just in case things get complicated, and I need her help.
“Well, someone is back in town, that’s all.” I raise my eyebrows to try and make her understand what I’m trying to say. “The brother that I don’t want to see.”
Mom gasps and claps her hand to her mouth in shock. She quickly tries to stifle her reaction, but Mya snaps her head around to stare at Mom anyway.
“What’s the matter, Nanny?” she asks. “Are you okay?”
Mom nods, but all the color has drained from her cheeks. My daughter’s too smart to ignore all the cues coming her way. She runs over and hugs my mom tight.
“It’s okay, Nanny. I will help you. Let me hug you. That will help.”
Mom tries her hardest to calm herself down so she can process this, and deal with Mya at the same time so she isn’t worried before she goes to kindergarten. I try and catch my breath as well, because we really do need to have a chat about this.
Mom and Mya chat quietly while I try to eat the breakfast Mom made for me this morning, as my brain rolls around at the speed of light. Mom’s reaction reminds me that this is all bad enough, without adding in the fact that I slept with him as well. Shit. I’m definitely not going to tell her that because she will lose her mind.
“Mya, do you want to go and get your shoes on then?” Mom finally asks Mya. “Then we can get you ready for school, okay? Because you are going to have a lovely day.” As Mya runs off, she meets me with horror in her eyes once more. “So, what the hell happened? Josh is back? Have you seen him? Has he said anything or asked anything?”
Too many questions all at once. I don’t know which one to answer first. I try to give her as much information as I can without revealing too much either. “He’s not back forever, just for a short while.” My voice sounds empty and weird. “And I have seen him, briefly. But no questions have been asked. Nothing at all. I don’t know if any questions are going to be asked.”
Mom doesn’t know how to feel about that.
