Placing a finger against his lips before he can start, I tell him I already know what he’s about to say. “It’s just that… I didn’t want to come right home…”
His angry expression softens to something more remorseful. “Because of our fight… Because of my stupid, hurtful words.” Dean closes his eyes, lowering his face to press his forehead to mine. “I’m sorry, Vanna… I’m sorry I made you not want to come home.” Reaching up between us, he places his hand against my cheek, and I can feel the slight tremble in his touch. “I don’t want that motherfucker in our bed, ever again. I don’t want anyone else in our bed, but us.”
I simply nod. Trying to convince my conscience to accept his words as a get out of jail free card, from the roiling guilt inside.
A few quiet moments pass before he tells me, “After tonight, if he isn’t arrested, Legion might decide to crawl back to the desert, for good.”
“Why is that?”
His eyes open to look into mine, curiously. The hopeful tone in my voice must be a welcome surprise. Even in the darkened room, with only the moon’s subtle illumination, I can tell he’s searching my expression.
“What if I told you, you’ll know in a few days?” Dean asks. “What if I asked you, to put aside everything else tonight, and only focus on us?”
“I’d welcome it.” I sigh, reaching up to gently hold the wrist of the hand he still has against my cheek. My fingers toy with the spherical stones of his tourmaline bracelet.
All I want is for Dean to be safe and happy. For Ace to be safe. Is that so wrong?
Dean lowers his mouth to mine, and we kiss. We kiss for a long while, hungrily and desperate, until Dean breaks away from my lips to pull off my t-shirt. Tossing it aside, his warm, hard body covers me again. His hands press mine down into the mattress, our fingers locking together as he continues to kiss down my body, only releasing me to pull off my underwear. Then those hot, powerful hands are moving up my body once again. Gripping my thighs, then my hips, sliding up my sides, slipping under my back to grip the top of my shoulders. He anchors me beneath him and settles between my parted legs. I can feel the heavy length of his hardness resting against my sex.
“I love you, Vanna.” He whispers, his dark stare transfixed on mine. “I love you beyond reason… beyond measure… beyond words, baby… I love you from the depths of my soul, with everything that I am… I will never… never… hurt you again. You are everything to me… Tell me you believe me, please.”
“I do…”
Taking my mouth once more, Dean pushes himself inside of me, releasing a deep, throaty groan as we become one. He moves slowly at first. That gentle, loving rhythm, as if he wants to savor each and every thrust. As if he wants to make it last. I kiss him back once more, before I look him in the eyes.
“Do you believe me?” I ask, rocking my hips to meet him, thrust for thrust. “Do you believe that I love you more than anything in this world? That there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you? That I would protect you with everything that I am, too?”
His mouth crushes to mine again, in a dominating, passionate kiss, before he whispers against my lips. “Yes, baby… I know it.” He moves inside me a little faster. “No one has ever loved me the way you do… In all the ways that you do… I couldn’t survive without your love, Vanna… I know what it feels like to be unappreciated… Hell, even despised by the one who’s supposed to be a significant other. It hurts… So not only do I know you love me… I feel it. I see it in your actions. The way you make this house a home for me. For us. All the little things add up to big things, baby. You make me happier than I’ve ever been in my life. I just hope I’m able to do the same for you.”
Wrapping my arms around his neck, I hold him tightly, and we make love well into the early morning hours.
