“In that closet, there’s a photo of you and her... And it looks like he burned your eyes out with a cigarette… There’s more of those strange symbols written on it in black… There’s nothing written on her face… just a ring of what looked like red and black melted candle wax around her.”

I don’t know what any of this shit means either. And I can’t exactly ask Vanna about it, nor her friend Laura without it getting right back to Vanna. Viking is a Pagan, though. Maybe he’ll know what to make of all this. And he’ll keep his mouth shut.

“What else?”

She shakes her head.

“We’re done here.” I say, turning from her once more.

“Wait… Please.” She begs. “Are you going to help us?”

I keep walking, though I can hear her shuffling in those ridiculous spiked heels after me.

“Dean… please!” she almost shouts now, a genuine desperation I can actually discern in her voice this time. I stop and wait for her to catch up to me. Those fucking heels clacking on the pavement, now that we’re in the parking lot. I turn around to face her. “For Maddie, Dean. You promised you’d do anything for her.” She reminds me.

“Did Legion kill Preacher?” I ask, attempting to keep my voice low, now that we’re nearer to where Vanna is waiting for me.

“I don’t know. I wouldn’t know!” she emphatically insists.

“You really haven’t given me shit, Lucinda. If I were you, I’d disappear, again. Take Maddie with you. Go visit your cousins in Tennessee. Get the fuck out of Dodge for a while… That’s the best I can do for you.” She looks heartbroken, but it doesn’t faze me in the slightest. Not anymore, and never again.

“I’m begging you…” she whimpers, this time pulling off those big Hepburn shades herself. For dramatic effect, I’m sure. Her ocean blue, mascara smeared eyes meet mine. “You have all the power now, Dean. I’m at your mercy.”

“And I already told you, Lucinda. I’m all out of fucks for you.” I remind her, suddenly feeling a hand gently gripping my arm.

“Come on, let’s go.” Vanna quietly insists. Lucinda’s eyes shift from mine to look at her.

“Vanna, I-” Lucinda’s words catch in her throat as her eyes seem to settle on Vanna’s hand on my arm. A look of astonishment seeps into her expression. “You gave her that ring?”

“That’s not all he gave me.” Vanna smiles, as she comes to stand in front of me, her back against my torso. I wrap my arms around her, and she gently grabs my wrists, lowering my hands until they settle upon her stomach. Her small hands softly stroke over mine as they cradle her womb, where the life we created together grows inside of her. My chest swells with a prideful joy as I tuck my face against the crook of her neck and kiss her. When I glance back at Lucinda, unable to restrain the smile on my face, I’m reminded of the photograph of Lucinda and I. When she was pregnant with Maddie. When I was led to believe the baby was mine. We were standing together, just like this. I can’t help but revel a little bit, in the poetic justice of it all.

It takes Lucinda a brief moment to realize the significance of Vanna’s words. When she does, her eyes widen and her mouth gapes in shock. For once, the bitch is momentarily stunned to silence.

It isn’t long, though, before she manages to speak again. “You’re… pregnant?” She can barely get the words past her crimson lips. Her eyes shift to look up at me once more. “And it’s… yours?”

I feel Vanna’s shoulders rise and fall in a slight shrug. “When you love a Witch, magic happens.” She twists around within my arms to face me. I drop my eyes from Lucinda to gaze down into Vanna’s beautiful face. “I’m hungry. Ice-cream didn’t cut it.” She tells me with a little smirk. “You need to feed us, Daddy.”

Fuck me. The way she calls me Daddy, pulls at my heart and stirs my cock simultaneously.

Lowering my face to hers, I press a kiss to her petal soft, pouty lips, before I pat her ass and tell her to go wait for me by the bike. She walks off without a second look at Lucinda.

I pull out my wallet and retrieve the several hundred bucks I’ve got folded inside. Making sure Vanna’s out of ear shot once again, I turn back to Lucinda.

“People seem to drop dead once they lose their usefulness to Legion.” I warn her, shoving my wallet back in my pocket. Lucinda stands there frozen in place, staring at me as if in disbelief.

“So that’s it? You somehow manage to knock her up, and Maddie is no longer a priority to you?”

I note the venom in her tone, but I’m not going to dignify that shit with a response. “When it’s safe for her to come back to this town, someone will let you know.”

“Can you at least give me back the letter?” She has the balls to ask, though there’s an underlying desperation in her tone.

I ignore her request, grabbing her hand and crushing the money into her palm. “Give Maddie my love.”

As I ride off on Serene, Vanna’s arms wrapped around me, her body pressed against my cut, I glance back at Lucinda.

She’s still standing where I left her, staring at the money in her hand.

That’s all my love ever meant to her anyway.
