Charmain gasps while a few of the other women laugh at Cherry’s remark. “Keep pushing me, I’ll slap the shit out of you!”

“What are you bitches squawking about?” Another woman, wearing a cropped leather jacket with fringe that sways as she walks, enters our little area.

It takes me a moment to realize where I recognize this long-haired, blonde beauty from. When I do, my heart beats a little faster.

“Oh, shit… Vanna…” she says, her expression sliding from slight amusement at the bitch-fest she just entered, to something more strained.

I swallow before I’m able to say her name. “Tamra.” Lucinda’s sister. We’ve never officially met. But she was in the tavern that rainy night, when Dean first kissed me in front of a bar full of people… Report this… He had said to her after their argument, right before he kissed me. I forgot all about her being with a member of the JoCo Jokers. Some big guy named Dawg, I think. I glance around for her side kick, Daisy, the one that had come up to me at the Jukebox. I don’t see her anywhere.

“How are you?” she asks, as if she cares.

“Fine.”

“She’s not fine.” Cherry pipes up, her slender arm gesturing angrily towards Charmain, making her chain and spiked leather bracelets jangle on her dainty wrist. “This mouthy bitch has been insulting her since she sat down with us.”

Charmain suddenly looks uncomfortable as Tamra turns her focus on her. She doesn’t say a word, simply stares at her for a few moments, before Charmain takes her drink and walks away from our group, heading back towards the clubhouse. I suppose Tamra outranks Charmain in this little sisterhood of the JoCo Jokers.

“I’m sorry about that, Vanna.” Tamra says, turning back to me. I notice her eyes shift to slightly glare at Trippy, standing silently beside me.

“I invited her.” I say again, before Tamra makes an issue of it next.

“It’s alright. I’ll go.” Trippy says, removing my leather jacket and handing it back to me. She scurries away without a backward glance.

“I didn’t expect Dean to bring you here tonight. But since you are here, we need to have a conversation.” Tamra says. “I need you to be the one to mend things between Dean and my sister.”

Her words take me by complete surprise. Is she kidding me? “Yeah, I don’t think so.” I mutter, draping the leather jacket over my arm.

Tamra gives the other women a look, that has them getting up from their seats to vacate our little area as well. She then looks to Cherry, Rosita and the other two girls that rode here on the back of Saviors’ motorcycles with us.

Cherry folds her arms, her hard stare never wavering. “We’re not going anywhere unless Vanna wants us to.”

Tamra turns back to me, a pleading look in her eyes. “Five minutes.”

I don’t think there’s anything she can say to me that would convince me to lift a finger to help Lucinda out.

“Please.” She presses.

I sigh. “Fine.” Glancing at Cherry, I tell her, “Five minutes.”

Cherry nods. “We’ll be over there.” She gestures towards an area somewhere outside of the roped off section. Once they’re out of ear shot, Tamra takes a step closer to me.

“Lucinda didn’t know what she was getting involved in.”

The Hell she didn’t. I remember Lucinda’s stunt with the private investigator and the manilla envelope she tossed at Dean. That he, in turn, tossed into the pallet fire. She was livid, and she knew where and how to contact Jack. My expression must be speaking volumes without me having to say a word.

“She didn’t, Vanna.” Tamra insists. “She was set up. She would never do anything to hurt Dean. It was all Legion.”

“Legion?” I say, incredulously. “Wow. She really will say anything to weasel her back way back into Dean’s life.”

Last I heard in passing conversation, nobody’s even seen Legion, since Preacher’s funeral. That was long before Lucinda contacted Jack. Dean hasn’t even said Legion’s name to me in months.

“She isn’t lying about that, Vanna. You have no idea how badly she regrets everything that happened.” Tamra lets out a remorseful sigh.

“I’m so sure.”

“Vanna, please.”

“Just, stay away from me. I don’t want to hear another word about Lucinda. You have no idea what Dean and I went through.” I try not to snap at her, but I am finished with this conversation.
