Shifting my eyes to Serene parked across the lot near the shop, I see her waiting, perched on my bike, already wearing the spare helmet I keep for Vanna.
“Be careful with that Dame, bro.” Viking warns me again. “She’s got trouble written all over her.”
I had figured that out for myself, the moment we met.
When Dean walks in the front door, I’m shocked to see my sister entering behind him… And dressed the way she’s dressed. Before I can say a word to either one of them, Giuliana comes running around the side of the leather three-seater where I’m sitting, tucked under a blanket, watching a movie on the couch with Nico. Plopping down next to me, making my cat run away down the hall, she throws her arms around me, going on about how excited she is to take me dress shopping tomorrow for the party the family is throwing for us.
Dean looks far less than thrilled as he shrugs out of his cut and hangs it up on the rack beside the front door.
“I’m taking a shower and going to bed.” He says, making a pit stop to place a kiss on my head, since Giuliana still hasn’t let me go yet.
I want to ask him what’s wrong, but I’ll wait until I join him in the bedroom later. Something about his demeanor tells me he wants some distance from my sister, and I can’t help but wonder what happened tonight.
“What are you wearing?” I finally ask her when she lets me go. “If mom saw you dressed like this, she’d shit a canary!”
“I went to the bar to surprise you, but Dean said you stayed home tonight.” She says. “I just dressed up to fit in. Kinda like it’s Halloween, only mid-June!”
“Well, you certainly look the part.”
“Oh my god, what a fun place!” she exclaims, then proceeds to give me a blow by blow of everything that happened in the bar tonight.
No wonder Dean’s pissed off. And I can’t help but notice that Giuliana seems rather impressed by him.
“I swear, it’s like he’s a professional street fighter! The way he tossed both of those guys around. Oh my God!” She nearly swoons over him, grabbing my hand before she peaks over my shoulder, down the hall towards the master bedroom where Dean retreated. She brings her attention back to me, speaking a bit quieter now as she asks, “What’s he like in bed? He has to be amazing, right?”
“Giuliana!” I say, surprised by her bold question and enthusiasm. “You need some chamomile tea or something to calm the hell down.”
“Oh, come on! We’re sisters!” she presses me, giving me a look like I’m the one being inappropriate right now. I’m not about to tell my sister that Dean is indeed, a sex God. She rolls her eyes at me. “You’re such a prude sometimes, Vanna.” She jumps up and makes her way into the kitchen, helping herself to whatever she wants in the fridge. “I swear, and mom and dad think I’m the good one.” She laughs, grabbing one of Dean’s beers. “Since I’m spending the night here, can I sleep in one of your t-shirts or something? My clothes are back at the hotel and this leather is going to be really uncomfortable. Unless it’s okay to just sleep in my underwear.” She shrugs. “But I didn’t think you’d be cool with that, knowing your hot fiancé might walk around at some point and see me naked.”
The last thing I want, is Dean seeing my hot, younger sister, naked.
“Yeah, let me go find you something to sleep in. I’ll grab you some pillows and blankets, too.” I say, getting up and walking to our master bedroom. There are extra blankets in the walk-in closet, as well as a few of my t-shirts. Dean is just getting out of the bathroom, a towel tied around his waist as he dries his hair with the one draped over his shoulders.
“She still here?” he asks, as if he’s hopeful she called for a ride or something within the last fifteen minutes.
“She’s spending the night.”
“Fuck... I mean… Aces.” He mutters, unconvincingly.
“I heard her version of events tonight.”
“I bet.” He moves over to the dresser to grab a pair of shorts, while I grab a blanket and an extra pillow from the closet. When I come back out, he’s sitting on his side of the bed wearing his boxers. “This is just a one-night thing, right?” he asks, keeping his voice low.
“I think so. We haven’t talked about it.”
“Vanna. Baby… Make it a one-night thing.”
“Did something happen between you two?”
“No.” he replies, his brows pulling together. “Why? Did she fuckin’ say something happened?”
“No… But you’re acting weird.”
“Giuliana is trouble.” He says emphatically, though still keeping his voice low so she doesn’t hear us. “With a capitol T. If I didn’t drag her ass back here,” he points to the floor as he speaks, as if to emphasize his words, almost frowning, “your sister would be getting railed by that prick I beat up. I probably wouldn’t have had to kick his ass if not for her antics tonight.”
“I really don’t want to think about my sister getting railed, Dean.”
We stare at each other for a moment, both of us pressing our lips together, rolling them inward as we try to stifle our laughter.
