“No… They’re very expensive.”

He doesn’t comment, only pulls another drag from his cigarette.

“Have you been using that Palo Santo on me?” I ask.

He nearly chokes on his own smoke as he laughs at me. “Oh, do elaborate, Vanna. I am intrigued!”

“When you bought it from the shop, you said it could be used to blind an enemy… Is that what you’ve done to me? Blinded me from fearing you?”

“No, sweet one. I don’t consider you, an enemy.”

Then I’m just crazy… Maybe my fear receptors really are simply burnt out after everything I’ve been through with Jack Nero.

“I got your flowers, by the way… Dean loved them.”

Another low and sinister chuckle emanates from his dark form.

“Did I mention he’s looking for you?”

“Twice now.” Legion replies, flicking his ash into the water.

We stand in another bout of silence. I watch him drop the butt of his cigarette onto the pier, grinding it out with his boot, then rest his pale, long fingered hands on the railing. I’m reminded once again of the day he came to the witch shop. We were standing just like this, looking through herbs and resins together.

“Have you ever?” I ask, breaking our silence.

“Have I what?”

“Used an obsidian scrying mirror?”

“Yes.”

“I’ve never tried scrying before, to be honest. I’ve always been afraid of what I might see.”

He’s quiet again for a few moments, before his next question surprises me. “You still aren’t… showing… Is your baby… alright?”

Anger washes over me, and I’m not sure how to respond. Does he see right through me? To my worries and concerns I haven’t voiced out loud to anyone? I’ve kept my fears about this, to myself. I’d never breathe a word of them to Dean… I’ve just been telling myself that if there was an issue, my Doctor would have said something by now.

“You care?” I snap at him. “Or are you just wondering if that hex you left in our driveway, worked? If your dark magic succeeded in causing me to miscarriage?”

His long fingers curl around the railing, his body tensing, but he doesn’t speak. So it was Legion, after all…

“Well it didn’t work.” I finally say. “I’m still carrying my baby.”

I’m not sure if that was the slight breeze, or if Legion just let out a sigh of relief that he was trying to hide…

“That day I fainted, and you were there… Was that chance?” I ask him. “Were you at one of the substance abuse meetings? Or have you just been stalking me since… since who even knows when!”

“You shouldn’t ask questions you don’t want the answers to.” He replies.

“There’s a difference between not wanting to know, and simply not liking the answer.”

“Oh, I guarantee you wouldn’t like the answer.”

“So, you’re not going to tell me.” I let out an agitated sigh. “Should I guess? Do you want to play that game next?”

“Your heart isn’t nearly dark enough to guess correctly, sweet one.” Legion replies. “But if a small hint will appease you, I will tell you that it is in my nature, to seek out the advantages in any given situation of which I find myself. On that day, there were several.”

“That was microscopic. Not small.” I glare over at him. “And rather cryptic, I might add.”
