“I can’t believe I actually did it.” I turn and sink down onto the bed, and Carson comes over to kneel in front of me.

“I can,” he says. “The book is smart, fun, sexy. Just like you. They’re going to love it.”

“Promise?”

“Promise.” He leans in and kisses me on the temple.

“Okay, sorry, today is not about me anyway.” I run my hands inside his shirt and over his strong chest. “It’s about you. We need to get going soon, or we’re going to be late for the signing.”

I’m so proud of this man putting himself out there with this book. He had to fight tooth and nail to make it happen, but at the end of the day, he believed in himself enough that his agent and publisher finally did too. Officially putting his crime-writing days on the back burner, Carson wrote what I swear is going to be the novel of his career, a heart-wrenching story about sons and fathers told over three different generations.

And today, the rest of the world officially gets to read it.

“Keep looking at me like that, and I’m fine with being late, Mrs. Calloway.” Carson wags his eyebrow at me and drags his hands up my thighs. He pulls my hips against his thickening erection, and my back falls onto the bed.

“Okay, maybe we can be a little late.” I grin as all the heat in my body rushes south. There’s no escaping this man’s gravitational pull, and I’m not complaining.

“Have I told you yet how much I love this dress?” Carson slides his hands under the hem and drags the backside of his knuckles between my legs.

“Yes,” I moan. Something about the color yellow always gets him riled up. “You told me that when I tried it on at the store, and again when I bought it, and again when I put it on—”

Carson’s finger slides around my underwear and pushes inside me, pulling the words from my mouth. He chuckles as what I’m saying turn to mumbles and slowly circles his thumb over my clit as his index finger works its way in and out. He drops his mouth to my knee and runs kisses along the inside of my thigh as he slowly pushes in another finger.

“Oh, my God.” I reach for his wrists and stop him, pinning him with my stare. “As good as that feels, I need you inside right this fucking minute.”

He slips his hand away and pulls me up flush with his chest. “Yes, ma’am.” He leans down and licks the line of my neck, biting on my ear and pulling a scream out of me. “I love it when you talk dirty.”

“You love it all,” I remind him.

He pushes his pelvis between my legs, his hard length rubbing against my heat through his slacks. “You know it.”

I slide my hands down and undo his pants, shoving them around his knees as he pulls my hips off the bed to meet him. Palming the base of his erection, he runs the head along my wet slit. Up and down. My insides start swimming, and my head gets fuzzy. I grab onto the back of his neck and dig my hands into his thick hair as he drives into me in one strong thrust, making me lose all the air in my chest.

“That sound,” he says, pulling my face to his and grinning against my mouth, “you losing your breath when I hit the back of you, is the best sound in the whole fucking world.”

I lean in and cover his mouth with mine. Lips and teeth clash as he thrusts like he can’t get close enough to me. It doesn’t matter how much time passes, I need him more each day.

My body starts to shake, and his becomes frantic, pushing me onto my back as he starts to climb like a wild animal, dragging me upward with each pump of his hips. I wrap my arms around him and dig my nails into his back, raking them hard enough that shivers shake through him. I cling for his heat, his body, my sanity.

Carson nips along the ridge of my shoulder and collarbone before dragging his teeth along my neck in the path that he knows sets me off. Drawing a path of wet kisses along my jaw until his mouth finds mine. Sex with Carson is more than making love, it’s coming to life.

His tongue slides into my mouth and claims me, and it’s the last thing I need to send me over the edge. My walls clench around his thickness as his thrusts get uneven. As I ride through the waves of my own climax, he finds his own, his pleasure pumping into my body as I cling to every inch of this man that I love, drawing out every last shiver before looking up into my eyes.

My everything.

Always and forever.

Carson pushes my curls out of my face and smiles at me.

“You’re going to need to fix that.” He looks at my hair. “Sorry.”

“I’m not.” I smile.

Carson leans down and plants me with a kiss, the forever kind of kiss that makes your insides tumble all over the place. The kind I used to spend my life writing about but hadn’t felt until him.

With another pump of his hips, I feel him already getting thick again.

“We’re definitely going to be late if you don’t walk away from me right this second, Mr. Calloway.”

His face falls into the crook of my neck as he lets out a frustrated groan. But when he lifts back up to look at me, there is a wide smile stretching his cheeks. I could get lost in those eyes, brighter than any sky I’ve ever seen. And no matter who is in the room, they always land on me.

“You ready to show the world what you’re made of?” I say, drawing my fingers to the line of his jaw, memorizing more of him each day. Every tick and twitch. What makes him smile, or groan, or fill with that look of pure desire.

“With you by my side, I’m ready for anything.” He leans down to kiss me. And darn it, I believe him.
