“I didn’t know what would be playing when I turned the radio on, Felicity. This is a mixed station. They play rock, rap, sometimes oldies, and pop.”

After a brief glimpse at his stereo system, she looked out the window.

“I like some of Summer Walker’s songs.”

“I do, too. Never heard this one before I don’t think, though.”

In minutes, he pulled up to her condo. He parked, hopped out, opened her door, and helped her alight. After walking her to her door, they hesitated, both staring at one another.

While their gazes locked, a fire ignited inside him. She felt like something worthy of further discovery. Exploration of the carnal kind. His dick throbbed as he salivated over her. She looked good enough to eat. An enigma of a woman who had his interest, and yet, he wasn’t certain whether anything would develop from this connection. He hoped she was as interested in him as he was in her.

“I had a good time.” She rocked back and forth, arms crossed, as if to warm herself.

“So did I.”

“…You think I’m weird, don’t you?” She cocked her head to the side, offering a twisted grin.

“Yeah.”

She burst out laughing and shook her head.

“I appreciate your honesty. I truly do. Well, you take care, Brett. I wish you well, and—”

He pressed his lips against hers, shutting her down. Stopping her in her tracks. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he brought her close, and deepened the kiss. She tasted like sweet honey. She uncrossed her arms and held on to his jacket.

When he pulled away, he saw the moon and stars in her eyes. He saw fractures and broken promises. Walls she’d built, and bricks she’d torn away. He saw ice, in desperate need of melting. Was she handing him a torch?

“I agreed that you were a little strange. It doesn’t mean I’m not interested.”

A slow smile grew on her face. Placing a soft kiss on her cheek, he turned and walked away.

“I will call you, Felicity. We’ll have to do this again real soon.”

She sucked on her lower lip.

“I think I’d like that.”

“I think I would, too.” With that, he gave her a wave, got into his car, and headed down the road to the sounds of ‘Tonight’s the Night,’ by Rod Stewart…
