I still inside her and stroke her hair, “Baby, why are you crying?”

“Because I hate you,” she says.

I wipe her tears away with my thumb, “No you don’t.”

“Fine, but I want to,” she huffs. I climb off her and lay beside her and pull her into my arms.

“Why are you crying? Talk to me.”

She shakes her head.

“Because I’m so fucking in love with you even though I don’t want to be.”

She sobs into my neck, and it’s at this moment I realize how badly I hurt her. I will never forgive myself for doing this to her. I acted like a fucking child. I created this mess. Sure, I had my reasons, but there will never be a reason good enough to cause these tears. How do you comfort someone when it’s you that caused the pain?

I pull her tighter and kiss the side of her head, “I’m so sorry. It kills me that I hurt you. I only ever want to make you feel good. Look at me, Mercy.”

She moves her head up, looking into my eyes, and the tears on her face fucking gut me.

“I love you, baby girl. I don’t care how long it takes; I will prove that to you. Please give me a chance to show you that I won’t ever make the same mistake twice.”

“I need time, Liam. I need to think about it. I can’t decide based on three amazing orgasms.”

“I’ll give you all the time you need, baby.”

“You’ll wait? No one else?”

I stroke the side of her face and stare at her with a serious expression on my face. “Baby, I don’t throw those three words around. I have never spoken those words to any woman in twenty-three years. If I say it, I mean it. And for you, I would wait a lifetime.”

“I need to go home and get panties,” she giggles.

“That’s your response? Okay, I’ll sit with Ivy while you do that.”

“I need to call a cab.”

I shake my head at her as she climbs off the bed, “No, take my car.”

“Are you sure? What if I wreck it?”

“I’d be far more worried about you than I would be, my car. So don’t wreck it. I need you back in one piece.”

I get off the bed, pull my pants up, and get my keys out of my pocket, then hand them to her.

“Thank you.”

“Any time, baby. What’s mine is yours.”

“Liam,” she says with disapproval on her face.

“All the time in the world, baby.”

“I’ll see you soon. I won’t be long. Go make sure she’s not looking at the sexy man meat in my Kindle library.”

“Yes, dear.”

“Bye, doctor. I’ll see you soon.”

As I walk to the right toward Ivy’s room, I shake my head. This woman has my heart in her hands. The only thing that matters in my world is Mercy. She’s fucking everything to me.
