The kitchen table is turned over, and there’s broken glass everywhere. When I see blood on the wall, and the floor, bile gnaws in my stomach.
No. Not my Mercy. Please God, no.
Even though I know she’s not here, I search everywhere for her, and it only confirms my suspicions, she’s not here, she’s gone.
Someone broke into my house and stole my entire fucking world. Where are you, baby? I called the police, and they said they’ll be out to take a report.
Who would do this? Nash is capable of assault, but I don’t think he’d kidnap her.
Finally, a police officer knocks lightly, “Police.”
I walk to the door and escort him inside, and he’s young. I sure as hell hope he knows what he’s doing. Officer ‘Robertson’ his name tag says. He takes a look around and spots the blood.
“Maybe it’s not hers,” he says under his breath.
Somehow, I know that’s not true.
He walks over to the door and inspects it, “There’s no damage to the door. Either she let the perp in, he had access, or you’re not being honest with me.”
“What?”
Four more cops enter my house before he can answer.
They are all looking at me like I did something to my beautiful girl, as he updates them on what he knows.
“We’re going to need you to come to the station,” the young kid says to me.
“Please, you have to find her.”
He nods, “Right.”
“What station? I’ll meet you there.”
A slight chuckle erupts from him, “You’re coming with us.”
We get to the station, and I’m escorted to an interrogation room. This cannot fucking be happening.
“It’ll be a few minutes before a detective comes in to talk to you, make yourself comfortable, doctor,” he grins before leaving the room as if this is enjoyable for him.
I try to think. Who has her? Well, no one broke in, and she wasn’t supposed to open the door for anyone.Think Liam, think. Who has the code?Mercy does, Xander does, and Nash. Fuck. Nash is the only one that would hurt Mercy. But kidnapping? I didn’t think he’d be capable of that. I haven’t been arrested, so I still have my cell phone.
First, I call Nash.
“Hi, Dad,” he answers with a harsh tone.
“Where’s Mercy, Nash?”
He laughs, “Somewhere you will never find her. She was yours but she’s mine now. I am never letting her go. Isn’t that right baby?”
I can hear her cry, and my heart breaks as panic rises in every cell in my body.
Nash laughs, “It sucks to have someone take the thing you love most in this world, doesn’t it?”
“Son, please don’t hurt her.”
“Oh, so sad,” he says, “Luckily for me, she likes it rough. But I guess you already know that.”
“Give me a kiss baby,” I can hear him kissing her through the phone and I’ve never wanted to kill my own flesh and blood more than I do right now.
