I nod.

“Follow me, please,” she says.

She takes us to a table next to the wall of windows that provide an impressive panoramic view of the city. When I saw her reaction to the view in the hotel, I knew I had made the right choice when I booked the restaurant for tonight.

Our table is circular with a white tablecloth, a dark purple overlay is on top, and our wine is already waiting for us. It’s her new favorite wine. It’s expensive, especially in a restaurant where prices are increased but I’d buy her anything she wants.

I pull out a chair for her, she takes a seat, with a smile on her face.

Walking to the other side, I sit across from her gazing at her while she sips her wine.

I nod to the waitress.

“Why is no one else here, Liam?”

“I wanted to be alone with you.”

Two violinists come out and start playing, I get up and walk over to Mercy, extending my hand, “Dance with me, baby girl?”

She bites her lip, and nods as she rises from her chair. I take her to the middle of the room, take her into my arms, and dance with her, holding her close to my body.

I spin her around as she grips her hands on my shoulders. She looks like an angel, smiling at me, she’s happy. We dance until the music stops, the musicians leave after one song, as they were instructed. Standing back from her, I hold her hands, staring at her a little too long.

“Liam?”

I clear my throat, “Mercy. When I found you in my bathroom, I swore I’d never do anything with you. But your beauty made it impossible for me to stay away. When I saw your tenacious personality, your infectious spirit, I knew I needed you. The day I saw you with Ivy for the first time, I understood your heart. I never planned on falling madly in love with you, but I’m glad I did.”

I kneel in front of her and see the tears in her hazel eyes.

“Baby girl, I love you so fucking much. I can’t imagine a life without you, and I don’t want to. I promise to love you and take care of you forever. Will you marry me?”

I take the box out of my suit jacket and open it, holding it out to her.

“Oh my God, Liam.”

She drops to her knees as she shakes and wraps her arms around my neck and slams her lips to mine. Our tongues tangle with each other and she runs her hands through my hair, but I pull back quicker than I’d like to.

“Baby, I’m dying here. Please give me an answer.”

She laughs, “Yes, Liam. I’ll marry you.”

I slide the ring on her finger, and she laughs, “This is huge, Liam. I would’ve been fine with a ring that didn’t cost as much as a mansion.”

I put the empty box back in my jacket and stand, holding my hand down to help her up off the floor, “Let’s eat.”

We go to the table, and our food is waiting there already.

“You really thought of everything didn’t you?”

I grin, “I tried.”

“We have to be at our next stop at seven.”

She puts a piece of salmon in her mouth and nods.

I ordered salmon for her, because it’s her favorite, and I got steak and it’s ‘melt in your mouth’ tender.

“The food is excellent. I hope it was worth the cost.”
