“Liam, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. It wasn’t fair. You’ve treated me so well, I’m sorry. I guess I’m scared.”

I should really stop talking. I have a feeling I’m making things worse with every word that comes out of my mouth.

His gaze softens, “Scared of what? I told you I’d never hurt you.”

I shrug my shoulders, “I’m afraid of losing you.”

“Then stop talking nonsense. You aren’t going to lose me, baby. It’s not even possible. If I wanted other women, I could have them. I don’t. I’m so fucking in love with you. I can honestly tell you, there will never be another woman for me. You’re my future.”

I gasp at his words. He motions me over to him with his finger.

He cups my face in his hands, “Only you, baby girl, forever,” and kisses me quickly.

“Go get ready.”

Twenty-Eight

LIAM

Well, fuck. After her little meltdown, I’m not honestly too sure where I stand, and tonight, might just blow up in my goddamn face. Where did that even come from? It’s as if she’s trying to find reasons to end the best thing that has ever happened to me. I try to show her every fucking day, how much she means to me. What more can I possibly do? At this point, I’m not sure what she wants from me. Anything she wants, I give her. This girl is going to fucking destroy me, I just know it. Still, I’m all in. I won’t turn back now. I’ll keep giving her my all, and if she blows up my life then so be it.

I pour myself a drink because God knows I need it. I grab the whiskey from the fully stocked bar, and a glass, pouring myself two fingers. I gulp it down when I hear her heels clicking on the Italian tile.

I turn to her, and fuck she takes my breath away. She’s wearing a pearl-colored dress that falls to above her knee, covered with a sheer material over what appears to be satin. I’m a big fan of the plunging neckline, it makes my mouth water.

“Do I look okay?” She spins around showing me the back as well.

“Okay? No. You look stunning, as the kids say, you’re a snack.”

When she throws her head back and laughs a hearty laugh, every worry melts away. Walking over to me, she runs her finger down my chest, “You’re not so bad yourself, Doctor Lexington, quite the snack.”

And just like that my dick is hard as steel, “Let’s go before I change my mind and keep you here all night.”

I take her hand in mine and we leave the room, taking the elevator to the lobby. I’ve arranged for a driver because I’d rather sit in a car staring at her, than to have to deal with the traffic here.

We walk out to the car, and I open the back door for her.

“You’re not driving?”

“Not tonight, gorgeous.”

She slides in, and I close the door. I go to the other side and sit beside her.

“You look very handsome in a three-piece suit, doctor.”

I grin at her, “Thank you.”

We arrive at the restaurant and get out of the vehicle. Her eyes travel up the tall glass building.

“Manhatta?” she asks. Shit has she been here already?

“You’ve been?” I ask as we walk to the elevator and get in.

She shakes her head, “No. Jessica told me about it.”

“The restaurant is on the sixtieth floor, it’s stunning.”

We walk in and the hostess smiles, “Dr. Lexington?”
