“Why?” I ask.

“Because I said so?”

I glare at him, “Just because I call you Daddy does not mean you get to use that line.”

He chuckles, and I roll my eyes. His comment annoyed me slightly, but that laugh is worth all the annoyance in the world.

Smacking my ass, he smiles, “Because you have plans with me.”

“Jessica wanted to go out for my birthday on Saturday.”

“Too bad. You can go out with her on Friday. We leave first thing on Saturday morning.”

I glance at him while I brush my wet hair, “Where are we going?”

He grips my chin lightly with his thumb and forefinger, tilting my head up, “That’s for me to know and for you to find out,” he kisses my lips quickly and leaves the bedroom.

What is he up to? I have no idea, but I’m enjoying his light-hearted mood after everything with Nash today.

What the hell is going on with Nash? Why would he suddenly start using drugs? It makes no sense to me whatsoever. How does someone with a good upbringing decide to start using drugs all of a sudden?

I know that Liam asked me to stay away from him, but I can’t, so I text him.

Me: Can we have coffee in the morning?

Nash: Yes. I can’t wait to see you.

Me: Good. How about the Moonshine Coffee on Crescent Peak Blvd?

Nash: I’ll be there. What time?

Me: Eight. I have to go to work afterward.

Nash: See you then, Merce. God, I’ve missed you.

I don’t reply to the last message for fear of sending him mixed signals.

I wander into the kitchen to find Liam making dinner. “You’re making dinner?”

He chuckles, “Don’t get too excited. My chef made it earlier today, I’m simply reheating it.”

“That’s fine but it’s almost nine. Isn’t it kind of late for dinner?”

Turning to me, he arches his eyebrow, “Have you eaten?”

I shake my head no.

“Well, then you need to eat, so no it’s not late.”

He brings a salad to the table and sets it down, “Is there anything I can help you with?”

“Pick a bottle of wine,” something to go with lasagna.

I grab a bottle of Leroy Domaine d'Auvenay Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru and set it on the table. Liam smirks at me, and I give him a questioning look.

“Do you not like this one?” I ask as he opens the bottle.

“I like it just fine baby, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it.”
