I couldn’t help myself as I constantly glanced down to look at the wedding band. Reality hadn’t hit me just yet. I was now Desiree Mills and the honeymoon bliss had left me floating on air. The sex was phenomenal on every level, and I never fathomed how adventurous Hardin was in bed. He wasn’t kinky, by any means, but he was very exploratory with his hands and his mouth.
After the first night we made love, it was apparent what was missing with all of my other partners. Hardin was gracious, he was thoughtful, and he wasn’t a selfish lover. In fact, he was a gracious, thoughtful and selfless person, period.
I felt helpless as I delegated duties to the hard-working movers, only because Hardin wouldn’t let me lift a finger. However, I paid the men back with gallons of water and food aplenty. The only items of mine that I was super anal retentive about were my bikes. I threatened, albeit, jokingly, that if I found one scratch on either of them, the men were dead meat. This was about the time that Hardin pulled me out of the middle of the packing fiasco.
I sold my condo with all the furniture, although the buyers said they would more than likely get rid of my beloved La-Z-Boy recliner. I can’t blame them. Si and Am used it as a scratching post until I got them a kitty tower. Speaking of whom, my cats were in the kennel until it was time for us to go. I’m pretty sure they are seething right now with thoughts that they’d scratch my eyes out and pee all over everything. Eh, they’d never do that. They were good cats, yet they were still on the fence about Hardin and avoided him at all costs.
Hardin came from behind, kissing my neck. “Why don’t you come inside where it’s a lot cooler?”
I still got stirrings when he was so close. “I’m just enjoying this blistering, dry heat before I need to become accustomed to the humidity.” I moaned, turning around to taste his mouth. “Are you going to be able to tolerate being in a car with me for five days?”
He chuckled, “It’s only five days. We’ll be in each other’s space for a lot longer than that. I am just looking forward to christening every hotel room on the way there.”
I moaned and slid my finger down his chest to his waistband, “I think I’ve created a monster; my own personal sex machine.” We were minding our own business, getting as frisky with one another as we could in a public setting until one of the movers cleared his throat.
Hardin and I separated, “I hope you didn’t hear any of that.”
The mover chuckled, “With all due respect, Mr. Mills, I’ve been married fifteen years—nothing offends me. I just wanted to tell you that we are almost done. Just got a few more boxes but taking a break for a beer run.”
“You’re drinking on the job?” The mover’s eyes widened, and he shook his head.
“No, we all pitched in to order pizza and beer after we’re done. It’s to say thank you to the Queen of Hearts and Mr. Money Man for taking good care of us.”
Pizza? Beer? That’s what I was talking about. “Oh, I am totally down with pizza and beer. Sounds good to me. Hardin?”
“Pizza? Beer? Pink Taco?” He moaned and cried out when I smacked him on his arm. Even though my husband gives the façade he’s a gentleman, he’s still a man after all.
This is Desiree King-Mills, and the Queen of Hearts has found her king. Thank you my faithful listeners and thank you Vegas, I am signing off.
