“Yay! That makes me so excited. I think it will be the perfect summer getaway when we have kids—which brings me to request number three.”
“Tell me.”
I sit up so I can look him in the eyes. “I want to start trying for a baby within the year. You can pick the exact date, but I want it to be in the next year even if you’re still playing. Okay?”
He puts his hands around my face and pulls me in for a kiss. “Yeah, baby, it’s okay. Let me think about the timing a little more, but we’ll start trying at some time in the next year.”
“Thank you,” I say, beaming at him. “That’s the end of my requests. Tell me what you want.”
He traces my lips with his fingers. “This. Just being with you as much as possible.”
“That’s a given, but there has to be something else.” I climb on top of him and wrap my arms around his neck. “Tell me. What do you want?”
He smiles, pulls my tank top out, and peeks inside.
“That’s a given too,” I say, swatting his hand away. “Be serious. Relationships are about give and take. I just asked for a bunch of stuff. You get to ask for stuff, too.”
“Well first, I want all the stuff you asked for, so it’s not like I’m giving anything up,” he says, stroking the stubble on his chin. “But there is something I’ve been thinking about.”
“Tell me.”
“When you said you wanted to fly commercial yesterday,” he says slowly, “did you mean forever? Or can we keep the private plane? Like I will literally live in a shack if we can just keep that plane.”
“Oh, God. I don’t want to fly commercial. No one does. We’re keeping it. We can even live in the plane if it comes to that.”

“Oh, look. They’re alive.”
When we walk into the lobby, our parents are sitting in the lounge having cocktails.
“Stop, Mom,” Seb says as we walk over to them hand in hand. “We needed some alone time.”
“I’m not saying you didn’t,” Adie says. “I’m just glad to see you’re breathing. We haven’t heard from either of you since you went to your room last night. Deb told me you were fully dressed and soaking wet. Care to explain?”
“No,” Seb says. “Mind your business, and don’t grill Sophie about it today. Everything that happened yesterday is forgotten.”
Joe points Seb toward the door as the team bus pulls up.
“I’ll see everyone after the game,” Seb says, turning to me. “Are you sure you want to go to the game tonight? I won’t be mad if you watch it from here.”
“I’m sure.” I get on tiptoe to give him a kiss. “I’ll be fine. They can pour an entire keg of beer on me if they want, but they’re definitely getting one back in their faces. I’m ready for a fight.”
“After what I saw last night, I’m putting my money on you.” He gives me another kiss and then turns back to our parents. “Take care of Sophie for me.”
“Always,” Adie says. “Good luck, honey. Your dad and I are so proud of you. Soph, do you want to join us for a drink?”
“Yeah, and food too. I haven’t eaten all day. I’m starving,” I say as Seb pulls me toward the door. “I’ll be back in a second.”
“No cheesy bread,” Seb says, smiling. “Or cheese of any kind. Promise?”
“I’m never eating cheesy bread again.”
“Liar,” he says, pointing at me as he backs toward the door. “But none for at least a week. Say you promise.”
“I promise,” I say, blowing him a kiss.
I watch him until he disappears into the bus. As I turn around, a man approaches me.
