I push him out of the way. Mason, Butch, Nash, Alex, and Joe fall in behind me as I start running across the lobby.
When we clear the door to the pool, I see Sophie shoving a woman away from her.
“Don’t try to deny it!” Sophie yells. “We know it’s you. We shut down the account. Yeah, look at your phone. It’s gone. Try to post shit about me now.”
“Sophie!”
The other woman turns to me when I yell. It’s Evelyn Marks. “Seb, thank God you’re here. Sophie’s gone crazy. She’s hurting me. Please make her stop.”
“Shut the fuck up,” Sophie says, shoving her again. “You’re the crazy one.”
“Sophie!” I pull her back. “Stop. What are you doing?”
“Seb,” Evelyn says, her voice getting softer, “I was just sitting out here by myself, trying to get a little alone time, and Sophie came running out here, followed by her group of mean girls. They’re yelling at me about something. I don’t know what I did. Please make them stop.”
Sophie looks up at me. “She’s miamibballbabe. She’s the one tweeting all that bullshit about me.”
“What?” Evelyn and I say at the same time. I look at Evelyn. She’s nodding at me—her eyes imploring mine for understanding.
“It’s crazy, right?” Evelyn walks around Sophie and puts her hand on my arm. “Seb, I would never do anything to hurt you.”
“Don’t touch my husband,” Sophie says, yanking her hand off me.
“Sophie, stop,” Evelyn says. “You’re hurting me. Please stop attacking me. I don’t know what I did.”
“That’s not attacking,” Sophie yells as she lunges for Evelyn. “This is attacking.”
Sophie slams her shoulder into Evelyn’s chest, sending them both flying into the pool. They surface and start swinging at each other as they try to get their feet underneath them.
“Enough!” I yell, marching down the stairs into the pool. I trudge through the water until I get to Sophie. I grab her arm and pull her away from Evelyn. “Sophie, settle down. Tell me exactly what’s happening.”
She points at Evelyn. “She’s the Twitter troll. She’s been calling me a whore for months behind the safety of her keyboard. It’s time for her to say something to my face. I dare you, Evelyn. Say something.”
Evelyn’s mouth drops open. “What are you talking about?”
When Sophie tries to get around me, I lean down and put her over my shoulder. “Stop!”
“Put me down!” Sophie starts pounding on my back. “I’m not even close to being done with her.”
“You’re done.” I march back up the stairs with her still over my shoulder and point to Raine. “Tell me what’s going on.”
“Evelyn Marks is miamibballbabe,” Raine says, nodding to Millie. “We’re one hundred percent sure.”
“That’s not true!”
“Shut up!” I turn to Evelyn who’s still in the pool. “Don’t speak again or I will put Sophie down and let her at you again.”
“Yes!” Sophie yells as she continues to pound on my back. “Do that. Put me down!”
I wrap my arm tighter around her legs as she tries to slip down my body. I turn back to Raine. “Do you have proof?”
“Tons of it,” she says. “She also had an affair with your friend Ricky. I’m not sure if you knew that.”
“No,” I say, turning back to Evelyn who looks away from me quickly. “I definitely didn’t know that.”
“We need to dig a little deeper,” Raine says. “I’m sure there are a lot more sorted details. I’ll let you know what I find.”
“Please don’t. I don’t want to hear another thing about her.” I glare at Evelyn, and then turn to Joe. “Joe, Raine and Millie are going to send you some evidence that Evelyn has been slandering Sophie on Twitter. Do you think that’s enough to get her fired?”
