“Hey, Ev.” I push Seb back. “Is Seb behaving for you?”

“He’s doing great. Have you been working with him?”

“Nope, it’s all you, sister. You know he would do anything for you.”

“Yeah.” She smiles up at Seb. “Actually, we’re not done and we only have a few more minutes. I want him to meet one more person.”

“Naw, Ev,” Seb says, pulling me back against his chest. “I’m done. I haven’t seen Sophie all afternoon. I want a few minutes alone with her.”

“Seb.” Evelyn’s face tightens. “This is a sponsor party. It’s not a family thing. Sorry, Sophie.”

“Go, Seb,” I say, reaching up to kiss him. “Help Evelyn do her job. I need to check on Dottie anyway.”

Evelyn grabs his arm, but he yanks it away. “The sponsors can wait. I want to talk to my wife.”

He pushes me over to the corner of the deck and spins me around so I have my back to his Michigan friends. The woman in the group who I don’t know hasn’t taken her eyes off me since I walked up to Seb.

“Are you trying to hide your high school girlfriend from me?” I tilt my head up and smile at him.

A deep line forms above his eyes. “No, I’m not, but how do you know who she is?”

“The boys stopped by the house this afternoon. Ricky told me all about her.”

He snaps his gaze over to them, his jaw tightening. “I told them the house was family only. Was she there?”

“No, I haven’t met her yet.” I start grinding against him. “I’m so looking forward to it.”

His hands settle on my butt as I continue to press into him. He shakes his head as he smiles down at me. “Are you marking your territory right now?”

“Yep,” I say, pulling his face down for a long kiss. “Does it bother you?”

“Oh yeah.” He pulls me closer as he runs his lips over mine. “I really hate when my hot-ass wife grinds her body into mine. Please stop.”

“Never. I want to make sure everyone’s clear who you belong to—”

“Right back at you,” he says, squeezing my butt. “Hey. You said a couple people stopped you coming into the party. Has anyone tried anything?”

“Do you think anyone’s going to try anything with Butch lurking around me? I think he scares most people into not even saying hi.”

“He’s a good man. That entire Blitzen Bay group is solid, right?”

“Yeah.” I circle my arms around his waist again as I lay my head on his chest. “I feel so comfortable around them. And speaking of Butch, I think our moms want to have a three way with him.”

“Wow, wow, wow,” he says, letting out a slow whistle. “I could have gone the rest of my life without hearing those words.”

“You didn’t have to see them flirting their asses off with him. It was awful. I can’t get the picture out of my head.”

“Again, that is information I never needed to know.”

“We’re married now. We share everything, including disturbing mental images. For better or worse, remember?”

“Yep,” he says, turning around as Evelyn grabs his arm again, “and I’m finally understanding what the worse part means.”

“Go,” I say, pointing to Evelyn, “before she has a breakdown.”

He growls and hugs me tighter.

“She’s just doing her job, babe. Help her out, okay?”

“Okay. Only for you,” he whispers as he leans down to kiss me again. “Just two more weeks until we’re alone at the lake house.”

“Just you and me,” I whisper. “I can’t wait. Now, go. I’ll call you when I get back to my room.”
