“I’m a little too old to have a girlfriend. Let’s just say I have a lovely companion.”

“Companions with benefits?” Butch asks.

“And we’ve just crossed the line. Next topic,” Nash says. “Our wedding is New Year’s Eve in Blitzen. Who’s coming?”

Everyone raises their hands as Seb walks up.

“What are we voting on?” he asks as he pulls me out of my chair, sits down, and then pulls me onto his lap.

“We’re voting on who’s more handsome—me or you,” Butch says. “Sorry, man. Looks like you lost by a landslide.”

“I asked who was coming to our wedding,” Nash says, ignoring Butch. “Looks like everyone is. Come in right after Christmas if you can—spend the week celebrating with us.”

“Maybe we’ll even have time for bachelor and bachelorette parties,” Elle says.

“Fun!” Kit looks at her. “I’ll start planning your bachelorette party. Where’s everyone staying? Holly House?”

“That’s really the only place in town,” Elle says. “We have a bunch of rooms blocked out for that week, but it’s not very big. Speaking of, the Holly House owner, Hank, texted me last night. He said Roman called him and was inquiring about investing in it to make it bigger.”

“Really?” Raine asks. “Roman wants to invest in a new resort in Alex’s hometown in Puerto Rico too. They’ve been talking about it for months. How much money does Roman have?”

“Roman has enough money to buy a hotel in every city in America,” I say. “Seriously, he’s loaded.”

“Make your reservations now for the wedding,” Elle says. “If Holly House sells out, we have friends who have extra rooms.”

“Including me,” Sam says. “Anyone’s welcome to stay at my house.”

“Sophie and I are looking to buy a house in Blitzen,” Seb says. “If we find a place before the wedding, anyone’s welcome to say there.”

Sam looks at us. “I might know of someone willing to sell. It’s the house on the other side of mine. The owners are never there. They moved to Florida years ago. It’s a rental right now, but I don’t think they really want the hassle anymore. Do you want me to ask them?”

“Yeah,” Seb says. “Please do. We’re ready to buy immediately for the right place.”

“Are you moving to Blitzen full time?” Kit asks. “Butch and I talked about moving there after we retire.”

“Just summers for now,” I say. “We’re moving to a house on Lake Michigan when Seb quits playing. Both of our families are near there. It will be a great place to raise our kids.”

“So no Miami when the playing days are done?” Mason asks. “I kind of like it down here.”

“We’ll keep a condo on the beach,” Seb says. “We have a lot of friends down here. When we’re not in town, any of you can use it. Same with the Blitzen house.”

“So,” Raine says, “this group now collectively has places in Blitzen, San Diego, Miami, Lake Michigan, St. John, and Puerto Rico. It looks like we’re set for vacations for years to come.”

I circle my arm around Seb’s neck. “What do you think, baby? When you retire, maybe we can just travel around to all of those places.”

“Sounds amazing. It can’t start soon enough for me,” he says, pulling me against him. “Only two more days until we’re at the lake house.”
