“Very well,” Zev said, clapping his hands together. “Do remember in your death throes that I gave you a choice.”

There was a slight tug in my brain.

“Nice try, but your compulsions don’t work on me,” I said.

The vampire stroked his goatee. “That would be unfortunate, were it not for one thing.” Zev opened the door that Emmett had originally come through.

There was a low growl and my pulse kicked into overdrive.

A larger than normal white wolf stepped into the doorway. There was no sense of recognition in those feral green eyes.

Zev tugged on his cuffs. “The compulsion wasn’t for you.”
