Gideon pulledup the Princess Quest program on his desktop computer. When he got the program running, he didn’t click on O’Keefe or Nightingale, because Sebastian and Kostya knew where their women were at. But Jada? It sounded like she was in trouble.
Sounded like.
He’d stick with that.
Sounded like.
He breathed deep through his nose and squinted at his monitor. Jada was always knee-deep in crap she shouldn’t be, it was her nature. This could just be another one of these types of situations.
Right?
“Bullshit!”
He slammed his fingers on his keyboard, knowing it wasn’t going to do him any good, but it made him feel better. Maybe he could get his information just a quarter of a second faster. Almost from day one, Gideon had put her phone under the Princess Quest monitoring system. There was just something about that woman, despite the fact that he knew in his heart there wasn’t a chance in hell that they could have a future, he just couldn’t let her totally out of his sight. For some reason, he felt like he needed to watch out for her. So she was in the system and her avatar was Jolie.
Dammit! Why is it taking so long to find her?
Gideon drummed his fingers on his desk as he let the program run. Princess Quest was on the down-low; Kane McNamara, his counterpart on the Night Storm Navy SEAL team, had developed it. He initially used it to keep track of just his team’s women, and others who they were concerned about, but he spread it out to the Omega Sky, Black Dawn, and Midnight Delta teams.
PQ was used to ensure that their women were safe. And after some of the crazy shit that had happened to some of those ladies, Gideon understood why he’d created the app. It was the 360 phone tracker app on steroids. The way Kane had built it, if the men could get ahold of the women’s phones, they could install the app. After it was installed, the app could track the women even if the phone was turned off or if the battery died.
But Gideon wanted just a little bit more out of Princess Quest, and after working with it for a month he’d found it. He figured out a way to tweak it so that it could be implanted in their phones wirelessly. So, the first time he and Jada had been together, which was at Sebastian and Gianna’s wedding, he had implanted the software. So far Jada hadn’t discovered it, which had surprised the hell out of him. Jada was a tech genius. Though, she didn’t have the years and years of experience to build up to his level of security paranoia.
His computer pinged—Jada’s location had loaded.
Fucking finally!
Gideon leaned forward, his nose almost touching the monitor as he glared at his screen. What in the hell was Jada doing in Oregon? And not Portland, Oregon. Hell, no. She was in some city called Tillamook. What’s more, her phone had been powered down—no wonder it had taken the system more than a minute to find her. But seriously, Tillamook, Oregon?
He needed Gianna Durand. Maybe she would have some idea what was going on with her best friend, but he was going to have to go in soft. Sebastian was guarding his wife like a rabid dog.
Gideon picked up his phone and punched in the number for his friend.
“What do you want?” Sebastian spit out his greeting.
Yep, not in a good mood at all.
“Hey, Bastian,” Gideon said with a smile in his voice. “What’s going on?”
“Neil is teething and has the croup. Gianna’s throwing up so often that I’m thinking about taking her to the emergency room.”
“Have you called Nolan?” Gideon asked, referring to their team medic.
“Of course, I have,” Sebastian said irritably. “He and Raiden SatoandTanner are all at Fort Bragg for their refresher course. I always forget that Tanner is a medic too, I always think of him as a sniper.”
“They’ll be back tonight.”
“Not soon enough,” Sebastian bit out. “Nolan told me to get her doctor to come to the house. Like that’s going to happen.”
“Take her to the emergency room. Why haven’t you called someone else to come help you with little Neil so you could get Gianna to the emergency room?”
“Because she’s supposed to be on bedrest, I didn’t want her standing up. It wasn’t ’til I got the okay from Nolan that I felt comfortable taking her. Now that I did, I was just about to call you. This is crap timing. Jada was here for two weeks and she was a Godsend, but she left a week ago, said she had something urgent she had to get back to.”
How did I miss that Jada was in town?
“Bastian—” Gideon started.
