Woof!
Definitely disgruntled.
“Hey, you get to go play with your sister Aggie and the girls.”
Woof! Woof!
“Oh, so now I’m chopped liver, I see how it is.” He opened his freezer and fridge and started pulling out ice cubes, berries, yogurt, peaches, and coconut water. With all of that, he added protein powder and threw it all into the blender and he soon had a tall glass of ambrosia. He downed one quick, then poured himself another glass and headed down the hall into his den.
When he fired up his two laptops and his desktop, he grinned. The last time some of the guys were over, they had laughed when they’d seen his tower of power. Dumbasses didn’t understand that a man needed more than a phone and a laptop. Shit, Jase didn’t even have a frickin’ laptop, he just had a phone. He was pretty sure the man had calluses on his thumbs. How in the hell he managed to text with his meaty paws was beyond him.
Then there’d been Nolan and Ryker. They continued to give him a hard time when his four monitors flared to life. He’d just rolled his eyes at their laughter. Both of themmightbe able to tell the difference between VGA and USB cables, but they’d be hard-pressed to come up with their names.
Neophytes.
By the time that had happened, Jase was already out the door, stripped down, and in his pool. Thank fuck he’d left his skivvies on since he didn’t have a privacy fence and the Ellis’ girls really didn’t need that much of an anatomy lesson at their age.
He shook his head at the memory.
Jase Drakos is nuts, but damn, I sure love having him watching my six.
Gideon finished his protein drink before sitting down at his computer station, because no food or drink was allowed at the tower of power, then he reserved the Urban Training center. He snagged his phone and placed a call.
Commander Clark picked up on the first ring.
“Gideon? Are you quitting already?”
Gideon laughed. It was good to hear Kostya’s boss sound like his old self.
“No, Sir, I plan to take every advantage possible of being in charge while my boss is out of town.”
“Ahhhh, now this sounds interesting. Tell me more.”
“I was thinking of messing with their minds.”
“That’s always a good thing, keeps them on their toes. What’s the plan?”
“I reserved MOUT at Fort Knox in hopes that I could get your approval to give them a little urban combat training.”
“And how do you plan to screw with them?” Commander Simon Clark asked.
“I’m thinking it would be fun for their GPS to show downtown Cincinnati, then their radio frequency to be on five different wavelengths. If it were just two, they’d get that shit figured out in no time, but five should take them more than a minute to untangle.”
“I like it,” Simon chuckled. “Anything else?”
“I don’t want any of them in on it, that would be cheating. But besides the electronics, I think that having some of their machinery failing would be appropriate as well. I want things to happen that are all fixable in the field.”
“Like what?”
“Lithium batteries on the night vision goggles will die.”
“Highly unlikely.”
“So’s everything else. They’ll know I’m fucking with them, but figuring out how to deal with the unexpected is their job.”
Clark grunted in agreement. “What else?”
“I’m going to send them out with 223 Remington cartridges for their M4s.”
