“Let me help.” Gideon brushed her hands away and swiftly unbuttoned her jacket and helped slip it off her arms and shoulders. When he had the jacket in his hands, he scowled. “This doesn’t have a real lining, what kind of jacket is it?”
“Vintage,” Jada said as she made a grab for it.
“That’s code for second-hand, Gideon,” Jonas piped up. “My girlfriend is always scouring second-hand shops for deals, and she makes good coin. Makes no sense to me. You going to get into the car, or what?”
Gideon shut Jada’s door, then hot-footed it over to his side of the SUV, got in, and buckled up.
“Give me my jacket.”
“When we get home. You already said you were too warm,” Gideon said reasonably. “Jada, don’t get worked up, just lean back and rest your eyes…and your mouth, and see if your head doesn’t start feeling better.”
“You’re not the boss of me,” she grumbled. Jada balled up her jacket and placed it against the window and used it as a pillow so she could sleep.
