“You do own a mirror, right?” Jada asked from the side of her mouth.

Gideon squeezed her hand again and she looked up at him. “Don’t be giving all my men big heads, they already have oversized egos,” he teased.

“If they’re anything like you and Sebastian, then of course they do.”

“There’s your bag,” Gideon said pointing to her suitcase. “Wait here.”

She watched as he made it past the hoard of people to grab not just her suitcase, but his luggage as well. As soon as he made it back to her, he was pulling his cell phone out of his back pocket.

“Smith here.”

“About time you showed,” he said irritably. “Are you parked?”

“We’re at baggage claim three,” Gideon said.

He disconnected the call and looked around. “Jonas will be here in just a moment, Angel.”

Jada scowled at Gideon. She no longer had a shit-fit when he called her that, but she also let him know she wasn’t happy when hediduse the endearment.

Out of nowhere a big blond man came up beside them and took the suitcase out of Gideon’s hand.

“Is there a reason you live somewhere that requires me to take four different freeways to get from my house to your house?”

“I did it to piss you off,” Gideon said. “Jonas Wulff, this is Jada Harlow. Like I told you on the phone, she’s been injured, so keep the growling to a minimum.”

Jada shook her head and then regretted it. When would the pain go away? “Well, Jonas, it’s nice to meet one of Gideon’s friends who isn’t wearing a tight t-shirt, even though you are named after a predator.”

A burst of laughter shot out of the big blond man.

“You, I like. My boss, not so much. I’m pretty sure he has a tracking device in his Range Rover that tells him if I go over the speed limit.”

“I do. You didn’t. I appreciate it. Now let’s get my girl to the house, where she can lie down.”

Jada let that pass, even though the wolfman gave Gideon a significant look. She wasn’t up to her normal weight class for a fight.

“Huh?” She looked up startled when Gideon’s arm was suddenly around her waist. “What are you doing?”

“I’m holding you up before you pass out. You’re ready to drop. It’s either this, or I carry you to the car, your choice.” By the look on his face, he was not kidding. Jada wrapped her arm around his waist and held on.

“Smart move,” he muttered.

They were now in a parking garage, and she heard the distinctive sound of a car being unlocked.

“Do you want to drive?” Jonas asked Gideon.

“No, I’ll sit in back with Jada.”

Jonas gave a low whistle. “Well okay, then.”

Apparently, there was something significant about that, but Jada just didn’t have the energy or brain power to figure it out. What’s more, she was more than fine having Gideon help her into the backseat. Grateful, even.

“Aren’t you hot in that jacket?” he asked before she buckled her seatbelt.

Jada thought about it for a second, “I guess I am. It’s hotter here than in Oregon or New York.”

“Humid, too,” Jonas said from the front seat.

She struggled to try to get out of her vintage designer jacket; the big, square buttons that connected along the diagonal were too much for her.
