Gideon eyed his friend. “Are you telling me that you didn’t pack your full pack?”
“Nope, I’m not saying that. I’ve got scuba too. But we’re going to need tanks,” Kostya responded.
“I brought mine too,” Nolan admitted.
“Me too,” Simon said.
Everybody tried not to look surprised, but they were. It must be years since the Commander did fieldwork. But good for him.
“So, I’m the odd man out.” Gideon chuckled.
“Looks like.” Kostya’s eyes twinkled. “I’ll arrange tanks and get them here ASAP. Gideon, are you going to help Jada and Kane?”
“No, they’ve got it well in hand. I’m going to see if I can backtrack Kendall’s remote access to the dam.”
Everybody nodded.
“I’ll get the dam specs so we know where to dive,” Commander Clark said.
“You mean I’m still stuck standing here with my dick in my hand with nothing to do?” Ryker bitched.
Everybody laughed.
“Go over everybody’s equipment with Nolan and make sure it’s in order,” Kostya commanded.
“At last, something to do.” Ryker smiled.

Jada lookedover at Gideon where he was typing furiously on his laptop, parsing through lines and lines of code. All three of them had done their best to create mini-firewalls around what they were doing so their work wouldn’t be obvious if Kendall were to do a sweep of the system. She could feel Kane’s frustration beside her. They were now down to three hours and fifteen minutes and they still hadn’t found the specific code within the malware that programmed out what the actual sabotage was.
Dammit, they needed to fucking find it!
“Hello?”
Jada and Kane both turned around when Allen Adams spoke. He was standing next to a middle-aged woman who held herself with a great deal of authority.
“This is Darla Creek,” Allen introduced. “She works out of Pittsburgh for the USACE. The colonel said you’d be expecting her?”
Gideon turned around and stood up. “Hello, Darla, my name is Gideon Smith. You made good time, thank you so much for coming.”
“You’re welcome. Alice said it was urgent.”
“It is. If you’ll come with me, I have a group of men I’d like you to talk to.” He smiled as he ushered her out of the room.
Jada turned back to her computer screen. Suddenly, she felt like she was looking at it from a brand new perspective.
“Holy shit, Batman. Look at this.” She grinned and pointed at a large section of code.
Kane wheeled his chair over and his eyes lit up. “You know, I went over that about forty-five minutes ago, but blew past it. Oh, no wonder—it’s tucked under this subroutine, there.” He pointed. “That’s slick, the bastard.”
“Okay. We’ve got it. Let’s isolate it and zap it.” Jada rubbed her hands together.

“Darla,”Kostya spoke up. “So, what kind of turbine does this dam run on?”
All eyes were on the woman who was standing up in front of the conference room at the whiteboard.
