Jada nodded again. “Tim Sloane hired me, he’s the Chief Technology Officer. He introduced me to the CEO once I was hired, but just in passing. Tim’s been my point of contact. I liked him, except for the pressure tactics.”

“What pressure tactics?” Gideon asked.

“I told you,” she reminded him as she turned to him. “Remember? I only had forty-eight hours to sign on the dotted line, otherwise, I wouldn’t be hired.”

“Oh yeah. But then you went back and checked out the company after they hired you. That’s when you found out about the suspicious activity and how it related to Miles.”

“Exactly,” she nodded. “Still…”

“Still, it seemed too easy,” Dex chimed in.

“Yes!” Jada said.

“Which brings us right back to Bonham,” Kane said. “We know that Miles and his merry band of psychos were busy torturing him. Obviously, he had information they needed, and it had to do with the firmware he was working on.”

Everyone on the call nodded.

“Somehow, this is the real issue, not how Risk Guard made it big three years ago. I just don’t know how.” Jada bit her lip.

“Neither do I,” Clint said. “Anybody else have a guess?”

Everyone shook their heads.

“We need to come back to this when we’re fresh.”

“Hey, Gideon,” Kane gave him an evil grin. “Is your team still talking to you?”

“What are you talking about? My team loves me.”

“Even after the shit you pulled on them in Fort Knox? What with everything that went wrong during their Urban Warfare Training, I would have thought they would have put Ben-Gay in your jockstrap by now.”

“Again, Kane, I don’t know why you think my men would be upset with me. Now, are they holding a grudge against you and Commander Clark? Hell yeah. But me? Hell no; they know I was rescuing my woman across the country in Oregon.”

Dex snorted out a laugh.

“Holy hell, he’s got you on that one, Kane.” Clint grinned. “What’d you do to the poor men of Omega Sky?”

Kane held up his hands. “It wasn’t me. Gideon came up with the idea to fuck with their equipment, radios, and sat-nav while they were training at the Urban Combat Training Center at Fort Knox. I was just helping him out when he had to leave.”

“What are you talking about?” Gideon asked innocently. “I’m confused.”

“You’re an asshole, Smith,” Kane said pointing toward Gideon through his monitor. Jada chortled.

“You got Commander Clark to go along with this?” Dex asked. “That sounds like something that Liam McAllister would do, but I didn’t know Simon Clark had it in him. That’s cool.”

“Yeah, it was,” Gideon agreed.

“Sounds to me like you better be checking your jockstrap from now on,” Clint told Kane.

“Sounds like,” Kane agreed.

“Let’s meet back here in a couple of days if we have anything to report,” Dex suggested.

“I will as long as my balls are intact and I haven’t buried myself in a bomb shelter after watching episodes of dolphins and humans falling in love,” Kane moaned.

“You can handle it, Kane. I have faith in you,” Jada smiled.
