“If she was playing on the up and up, all of these eighteen companies would be on her employer’s list. Can you get with Clint at Midnight Delta and Kane with Night Storm and divvy out what I’m going to send you? I’ll also send you everything I pulled down from her cloud about Risk Guard, so you should be able to see if any of the eighteen aren’t on their list of clients.”
“Consider it done. Anything else?” Dex asked quietly.
“If I think of something, you’ll be the first to know.”
“I’ll update you in an hour via text, just to give you status.”
“I appreciate it, Dex.”
Dex hung up, and Gideon rolled up his sleeves. It was time to get to work. Now, he hadn’t sent the other men on wild goose chases—every lead needed to be checked out—but Gideon had a hunch. It was a wild one, but then again, Jada was a wild card. It was the reason she appealed to him more than any other woman ever had.
There was no record on the cloud of her having hacked Risk Guard, Inc., but his girl was too smart to leave any kind of trail. It was possible—and fuck, likely—that a company like Risk Guard would try to monitor their employees. In that case, there would be no record of what she had found anywhere. His girl would have been doing this with totally different equipment, a different persona, and she’d be arranging for her log-in to be coming in from somewhere in Outer Mongolia. There’s no way he could follow in her footsteps without some kind of in, and he didn’t have it. Gideon would bet his left nut that she had nothing from this other account and persona touching her Jada Harlow identity.
I’m fucked.
On the bright side, it would take the kidnappers a couple of days to realize it, if the kidnapperswerea part of Risk Guard, which was what his gut was telling him.
Unless they decided to just beat it out of her.
“Okay, okay. Fuck this noise. It’s Risk Guard that has her, I’m sure of it. Look for some connection with the company and Tillamook.”
