“I’ll call the authorities then, to go get her,” Kostya said. “And Kendall?”

“He’s here. He’s going to want to watch his handiwork. I’m sure of it,” Jada said confidently.

“I wholeheartedly agree. Now it’s up to me to just pinpoint his ass. So, all of you, get the hell away from me.”

Kostya chuckled as he started toward the hallway.

“Hey wait a minute—” Gideon started.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course we have this covered,” Jada said. “Kane and I have already developed a patch so that it can be installed at every single hydroelectric dam with an impulse turbine. And before you ask, we checked to make sure that he hadn’t written anything against reaction turbines.”

Gideon sighed in relief. “But—”

“Jesus, Gideon, get to work,” Kane growled. “Tanner’s aunt is already working on a way for the Army Corp of Engineers and National Guard to physically get the patches to each dam in the next twelve hours. Are you satisfied?”

Gideon turned back to his laptop and heard Jada asking where the vending machines were as she started down the hallway.

He turnedoff the alarm right before it was going to buzz again.

“I’ve got you, you motherfucker,” Gideon said under his breath.

That word didn’t come close to describing just how evil Kendall Douglas was, but he really didn’t have time to come up with more adjectives. Gideon picked up his phone with a smile and got up from his chair.

He turned and saw Kane and Jada both sitting in their chairs, looking at him. Jada was sipping her Coke, one leg swinging over another wearing sky-high red heels. Why had he not noticed that before? Meanwhile, Kane was snagging chips out of the bag of Fritos they shared. Simon had also found a chair and a bottle of water. At a desk to Kane’s right, Ryker munched on a packet of Oreos. It took Gideon a second to spot Nolan and Kostya. They were holding up the wall near the door. Kostya was grinning.

“Aw, shit, did you people actually bet on me?” Gideon asked.

“Hell yes,” Ryker exclaimed. “But I didn’t win. Jada, who did?”

Jada looked down at her phone then over to her left. “Simon, you’re the winner. You were off by thirty seconds. Everybody owes him fifty dollars.”

“I don’t take personal checks,” Commander Clark said with a straight face. Then he turned his attention back to Gideon. “So where is Kendall Douglas, is he in Pennsylvania?”

“Did you all bet on that too?” Gideon asked.

Jada shook her head. “Nah, we were all pretty sure your gut was right, so all of us figured he was here. What did you find out?”

“He’s here, and he’s cocky, and I’m ninety-nine percent sure he’s staying at the Manor House bed and breakfast in Warren. It does after all have suites available and an overall five-star rating.”

Kane sat up straight in his chair. “Now wait just a damn minute. You were checking out IP addresses; there isn’t a chance in hell you could have triangulated him to an actual address.”

“Oh, ye of little faith.” Jada smirked at Kane. She turned to Gideon. “I want to hear how you did it, Baby,” she purred.

“After being routed around the world and back, I finally landed right back here in Warren County.”

“That’s a little bit less precise than a bed and breakfast,” Kostya said. “And let’s start walking and talking.” He opened the door and they all started down the hall to exit the structure and get back to their SUVs.

“He said talking,” Kane reminded Gideon as soon as they hit the outside. “How did you figure out the Manor House?”

“Once I gained access to his network, there were a couple of named devices. One was Manor House Guest Printer. I’ve already sent that info over to Clint, Rylie, and Lydia. They should have what guest room he’s staying in by the time we get there.”

“That was slick,” Kane congratulated him.

Jada grabbed him around his waist and squeezed tight.

“I checked it. Manor House is sixteen miles from here,” Ryker said. “I’m driving one of these.”
