“She was being dragged out of the conference room…” His voice trailed off.

“Finish it,” Kostya demanded.

“I don’t know any more. I swear.”

Kostya pressed harder with his rifle’s muzzle and piss began to dribble down the man’s leg.

The woman leaped off the bed, not caring that she dropped her blanket and she was naked.

“How disgusting! You’re pathetic.”

“Dasha, you know what happened, tell him. Please.” The man turned his tear-filled eyes to the woman.

“You’re lying, I know nothing,” she spat.

Kostya pointed his rifle at her. “Get back on the bed and sit down,” he commanded. Dasha looked behind her and sat as far away from the urine-soaked bedding as she could.

“No, sit next to lover-boy.”

Dasha gave Kostya a horrified look. “No,” she protested.

“Then tell me about the American woman. Otherwise, I’ll have you lie down face first in the piss.”

“Fine,” Dasha said as she threw back her long black hair over her shoulder. “She thought she knew so much,” the woman said with derision. “She works with wild animals, what could she know?”

“Where did they take her?”

Dasha smirked but didn’t say anything.

Kostya moved with lightning speed and grabbed her by the scruff of her neck. He shoved her face so that it hovered an inch above the urine stain. “Tell me where she is, Dasha.”

“All right. All right,” she screeched.

Kostya pulled her up and shoved her back against the wall.

Dasha’s eyes darkened as she stared up at Kostya. “You know what, I don’t think I will tell you anything. You speak Russian, but you’re American. I can see it in your eyes. You won’t hurt me. Americans don’t have the stomach.”

Fuck this shit.

“Try me,” he said as he pulled out his Ka-Bar knife.

Her eyes widened.

“I’ll ask you just one more time, Dasha,” Kostya purred as he stepped forward and traced the tip of the knife along her collarbone. “Where is Doctor Lord?”

“They have her outside,” she stuttered. “Grigor was sick of her whining about our project. Always she says that our formulas are off. But she knows nothing.”

“Did he kill her?”

“Nyet,” Dasha sighed. “Anfisa would not allow, so she had one of her men throw her in the all-terrain. He gave her enough to live through the storm. Anfisa thinks we need to listen to this woman, that she might have something to contribute to our program, but she’s wrong. Grigor is the greatest scientist in all of Russia, he knows what is needed and what isn’t. Dr. Lord is not needed.” Dasha pushed at Kostya’s hand and he pulled back the knife. “I have told you everything.” Her eyes were defiant.

“Linc,” Kostya called into his mic.

“Already on it,” his man responded. Kostya knew he’d be checking inside the Vityaz.

Kostya shot a look over to Landon. “You’ve got them both?” he asked. Landon nodded. “I don’t want them setting off an alarm when we leave.”

“I’ll take care of it.”
