“Wait a minute,” Gideon interrupted. “I didn’t hear any one of you mention someone manning some kind of desk. So I’m thinking the camera at the front door is not being monitored, unless it’s being monitored by those two geeks in the outbuilding, which is kind of useless.” Kostya heard the disdain in Gideon’s voice. “Those front doors are the farthest from all of the sleeping quarters you’ve pinpointed.”

I really like having him on my team.

“He’s right,” Kostya said into his mic.

“So now we get to close in, right?” Linc asked.

“I’ll come around and meet you. Seb, Landon, and I will go in. Linc, I want you to stay outside in case we need to blow the tanks. Ryker, you continue to watch from outside to see if we need help; you’ll be the backup who can come through the window. Mateo and Nolan, you keep your eyes on everyone on the west side.”

Kostya listened to everyone’s affirmatives as he made his way through the heavy snow to the front of the building.

Jesus, that Vityaz is fucking huge! It makes the two tanks beside it look like children’s toys.

When he got to the doors he saw that Linc was just setting a charge to blow the door open.

“Don’t worry, Boss, it’s going to be a baby blast,” he assured Kostya with a grin. At least Kostya assumed he was grinning behind all of his arctic face gear.

“Did you hear that?” Kostya said into his mic. “There’s going to be a small blast in the front to get us through the doors. Hopefully, the sound of wild banshees screaming out here will cover up the noise.”

The four men stood back as the door was blown, then ran inside.

“Nobody even rolled over,” Mateo assured him.

“The lovebirds are fine,” Ryker said.

Kostya took point and had Sebastian and Landon following him along the southern hallway. The sounds of the blizzard were even kind of loud in the building; it was amazing anyone was getting any sleep, but that didn’t stop him and his men from being quiet.

Kostya was pretty sure that it was the third door that housed the three people sleeping on the floor, and he tried the doorknob. It was locked. He lifted his foot and kicked it open.

“What the hell?” a man said in English.

“Now what?” another man asked in Russian. His accent was British.

Yep, these were his biologists.

“The snugglers are awake,” Ryker warned them over the comm system.

“All quiet on this side,” Mateo reported.

“Same,” Nolan said.

“Sebastian and Landon, handle the two next door. Don’t use deadly force, I don’t know what we’re dealing with yet.”

Sebastian nodded.

Kostya walked into the room, found the light on the wall, and hit it. Three pairs of eyes peered up at him, one woman and two men, all looking the worse for wear. He recognized them from his report. They’d found the scientists, but two were missing.
