Kostya and Ryker met Landon at the first door along the west wall. Kostya tilted his chin, his meaning clear. There were eight doors along the wall, one had to be a bathroom. Kostya silently moved in front of each, and when he found he found the door with the Cyrillic writing that said toilet—it was number four from the west—he quietly announced it in his comm.

“You two cover the first two doors, I’ve got number three.” Kostya he said to Landon and Ryker.

“Blast coming,” Linc said. “Three, two, one.”

The blast hit.

Kostya hit the number three door with his foot, easily crashing through the door and the doorframe. Two shots above the bed stopped the man from reaching for his gun. “Don’t move,” Kostya yelled in Russian. The man dove for his gun anyway. Kostya killed him.

Before he could move to door number five, .45 caliber shots exploded through the door. Kostya plastered his back against the wall next to the door waiting for a pause in the shooting. When it came he went down low and fired round after round from his automatic rifle, blasting the room until he heard screams that were abruptly cut off. He looked over his shoulder, and both Landon and Ryker had their guns trained into rooms one and two, so they had their situations covered.

More shots were coming from the hallway in front of him. He looked up to see Sebastian shooting his gun into the room closest to the blown entry point. There was no sign of Linc. Ryker ran past Kostya to the final room that was unopened, door number six, and Kostya followed. Ryker slammed the door open with his boot.

“Don’t shoot. Don’t shoot.” A woman screamed in English.

Anfisa.

Kostya would bet anything.

He was in the room in an instant. He jerked the gun that she was pulling from under her pillow out of her hand. She twisted, kicked, and fought before Kostya grabbed the blanket from her bed and wrapped it tight around her. He yanked the lamp cord out of the wall then ripped the cable from the base of the lamp and whirled it around her, tying it tight. That’d do for a minute or two, until Ryker scrounged up something that would work. Healwaysmanaged to find something that would work.

“One dead,” Sebastian reported.

“I killed two,” Kostya said.

“Mine’s secured and Landon’s taking him to the supply cabinet,” Ryker told him. Kostya knew that Landon couldn’t speak Russian, but he had no doubt that somehow he would be taken to some kind of area where he would find something to tie everyone up.

“Everyone okay?” Kostya asked. “How about you, Mateo?” he asked into the comm system.

“Everything’s under control, Lieutenant. They didn’t put up any fight worth mentioning.”

“I want them over here, STAT.”

“You got it.”

“What are you going to do with us?” Anfisa demanded to know. “I called out to St. Petersburg as soon as I heard you. You will be tracked down like dogs.”

Kostya laughed.

“Lady, there is no way you could have gotten a signal, not in this blizzard,” Kostya scoffed.

“Our technology is far superior to yours.”

“Of course, I did.” Even tied up, lying on the bed she managed to look like a haughty bitch.

Kostya bent down so his nose was almost touching hers. “Where is Grigor Petrov?”

“I heard the shots. You stupid Americans probably killed him.”

That’s what Kostya was afraid of.

He stood up. “Everyone question your prisoners, I want to know which man is Grigor Petrov. If they don’t talk, search their rooms, there has to be some sort of ID.”

“Already looking, Kostya, but everything’s in the Russian alphabet. Cyrillic, right?” Sebastian said, pronouncing it correctly.

“Bring whatever ID you find to me, I’ll read it,” Kostya said.

“Gideon, how you holding up?” Kostya asked.
