“I understand.” I didn’t think that she would be staying at the campus after what happened, I don’t see how it wouldn’t be too much.

I would definitely get into a lot of fights. People don’t know how to keep their mouths shut and I would fuck up the first person that wanted to comment on what happened to her. As if the school board doesn’t already want a reason to kick me out, getting into a fight on campus is a sure-fire way to get that to happen.

“I want to move to Uvalde. There is nothing for me in my hometown and I don’t want to stay in the city, but I don’t know if the guys would want me there?”

“Of course, they want you there! I don’t know what is going on with you and Tough, but I know that he has called to check on you multiple times and it’s been a little over 24 hours.”

“How do I address that? Do I just ask them if I can come live there? Would I live in the clubhouse? Or would I need to get an apartment?”

“If you are comfortable at the clubhouse, you could have a room near mine, or we could get an apartment in town together…” I want her to do what she feels comfortable doing and if that is not being near the men of the club all the time, it’s totally understandable. “I could talk to the guys for you?”

“No. You told them about my dad, I need to be a big girl eventually and handle this shit myself.”

It’s been two weeks since Zoe was taken. Noah wouldn’t tell the police anything, he claims that he worked alone and that there was no one else in the apartment. While that might have been true when people showed up at the apartment, he didn’t care that they found four different sets of DNA, he stuck to his guns. He was assigned a shit state attorney that didn’t give two craps about getting him out of trouble, and the dean was right about growing up in a rough situation, no one from his family came to defend him. The court has set a date and he is considered a flight risk so he will be detained until it gets here.

The police did an investigation on DIK but didn’t find anything that gave them any idea as to who Noah was working with. There was a stash of drugs in one of the drawers of his room, but they didn’t find anything anywhere else. He had a single room too, so it was really a bust. They did what they could but without probable cause, they couldn’t empty the house or force the school to close them down.

All the brothers from that frat have been investigated and cleared claiming they have nothing to do with what Noah was a part of, and they talked to a few people that are known to hang out with him outside of DIK, but it didn’t lead to anything. The cops even went as far as making sure none of them have connections with the MC—which we already knew that they didn’t—but they missed the connection with ASG.

Granted, if you don’t know where to look you wouldn’t know it anyway, and now that the man that was giving him the drugs is gone, I wonder what is going to happen?

Are they going to send another man to deal the drugs? Or do they already have one? How many people do they have in the city dealing this shit? Travis always met with the same man but that doesn’t mean he is the only one in the city working for the ASG, I would be willing to bet that there are a lot of people working for them.

The lack of evidence might have been enough to make the police think that they weren’t involved but because of Travis is the one getting the drugs from the ASG, the club is still paying a lot of attention to them. Travis had to have planted to drugs in Noah’s room, he might have been the one to drug Zoe, but I don’t think that the same person drugs everyone that they take.

No one else has been taken since Zoe, and the DIK guys have been perfect. Even Travis hasn’t made many more sketchy meetings with men that he shouldn’t. I kind of hate that we are at a standstill with figuring out who is behind all of this, but I am happy that they appear to be done with doing their shit. At least for now.

Raven and I have been taking turns sleeping in Zoe’s room, and tonight is my turn. The sun is just starting to rise when Zoe starts to thrash around, she is mumbling and throwing her arms, I don’t know if holding her down is going to help or make it worse, but I am starting to think that she is going to hurt herself and me if I don’t get her to wake up.

“Zoe!” I call, touching her shoulder with a firm hand.

She thrashes about some more but doesn’t wake.

“ZOE! Wake up!” When she turns and swings at me, I grab her wrist and pin her to the bed. I can see the panic on her face but as soon as I am on top of her, she starts to wake up. She blinks a few times and lets her body fall back onto the bed, heavy breaths coming between clenched teeth. When I am sure that she is awake, I let her go.

“I… I saw their faces. Little things in each face that I could describe.” I roll over and grab my phone, I know that its early, but I bet someone will answer their phone.

“Hey! Get over here right now, Zoe remembers the guys faces. I think we can get a pretty good sketches if you get here now.”

Zoe is looking at me like I’m nuts but once her breathing returns to normal, I explain. “Bell is the MC tattoo artist, and he is pretty good with faces. He won’t be as good as a police sketch artist, but he will be pretty fucking close, and he is right up the road.”

Not even 5 minutes later Bell and Tough walk through the door. I can tell by the way that Tough holds his hands that he wants to reach for her. I have no idea how their relationship was before this happened, but I can tell he cares for her, and this is killing him.

He keeps his distance, standing at least four feet away from the bed, but Bell sits down on the end by her feet. When she doesn’t flinch away from him, I smile to myself, she talks to her therapist every other day and it seems to be helping.

He puts a pad of paper in his lap and flips a pin around his finger, “It might help if you lay down and close your eyes. Tell me what you can, and I will do my best.”

“The problem is, they are only flashes of PARTS of their faces. None of them are whole images.”

“Okay, so I will do them each separately and then we can put them together until they make a face you recognize.”

It goes surprisingly well. Zoe lays back on the pillows and closes her eyes. As soon as she starts to describe a set of eyes that she sees Bell starts to draw. I am a little amazed at the amount of detail that she is able to give. Bell does all the pieces at the same scale, flipping pages with every other sketch. When there are quite a few pages beside him I start to rip the pages into smaller pieces.

The more Zoe talked the more agitated she got, Tough doesn’t seem to hesitate when her hands start to shake, he steps up next to her and takes her hand. She opens her eyes and gives him a tight smile, when he tries to pull away, she tightens her fingers and closes her eyes.
