Yes, he thought. Somehow, some way, he was going to convince Chloe that he was worthy of her love.

Too soon, the song ended and his obnoxious friends cheered for him. Then they were crowding onto the dance floor as well, but the music shifted to “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper. Chloe was pulled out of his arms by Dash as he swung her around, all the men’s jackets and ties thrown over chairs as they whooped it up. Marco thought he’d be jealous of another man touching his wife, but instead, he smiled when Dash spun Chloe around, making her laugh again and again.

Marco walked over to Emma and took her hand. “Will you dance with me?” he asked.

Emma bounced up and down, nodding her head. Marco led her around, carefully spinning her and guiding her with the help of the music. Song after song played through the night and everyone laughed, switching partners since there were four men and four women once Chloe finally convinced Maggie, Emma’s nurse, to join in with everyone to dance.

Chloe looked around, stunned by how late it was, as well as how little it mattered now that she loved Marco. Emma was laughing as she twirled around, her filmy dress billowing out around her knees. Dash was holding her hand to keep her steady, while Kasim, a freaking world leader, danced with Maggie, a fifty year old nurse who spent her days easing her patients out of their rooms so they could join in with mental exercises and therapy. The woman’s cheeks were red from the heat in the room now, as well as the excitement of dancing. Angela was dancing with Callum, but there was more laughing and talking going on there. And Marco…he was…he’d been talking with Tom but Marco must have sensed her look because he stopped and looked over at her.

The heat in his eyes caused her to shiver with anticipation. This wasn’t a real marriage, she reminded herself. But goodness, she wanted a real wedding night!

By the look in Marco’s eyes, she suspected that she was going to get her wish!

He walked over to her, his tall, powerful body blocking out the dancing overhead lights as he stood next to her.

“I want to make love to you, Chloe.”

Was her heart beating? She wasn’t sure. However, a moment later, her heart thudded into triple time and Chloe nodded. “I’d like that very much,” she replied in a whisper.

Marco took her hand, leading her onto the dance floor instead of out the door. Chloe didn’t want to dance. She wanted to…she wanted to strip this man naked and do all the things that she’d never wanted to do to a man. She didn’t like sex. But with Marco, she wanted to make him happy. She wanted to give him as much pleasure as possible! He’d given her so much, and she’d done nothing for him!

The song slowed and Chloe gasped as electric tingles shimmered through her body. His arms wrapped around her, and she smiled up at him. The gold band on her finger sparkled in the light, catching her attention. Married! She was married to Marco Hudson! She felt like the luckiest woman in the world!

“You’re beautiful!” he murmured as he lowered his head.

“Marco, let’s…”

She didn’t finish that sentence because he once again lifted her into his arms, her legs swinging into the air and Chloe laughed as she wrapped her arms around his neck to hold on.

Chloe glanced over her shoulder and noticed Emma’s worried expression, but just as quickly as the anxiety appeared, Maggie whispered into Emma’s ear, explaining things when her sister started to become worried. Whatever Maggie said seemed to sooth Emma and she smiled again, but her sister was tired.

“Maggie will bring Emma back to the residence tonight,” Marco assured her. “She’ll be safe.”

The worry that had started to cloud Chloe’s mind dissipated immediately and she smiled up at him. “Thank you!”

“For taking care of your sister?” he asked.

“No, for everything! This…” She shook her head as he carried her to a waiting limousine and ducked inside. “Everything was beautiful today!” she whispered to him.

The door to the limousine closed and a moment later, the vehicle eased into the light traffic. Chloe had no idea where they were going. All she knew was that she loved this man.

“I can’t kiss you yet,” he told her, his voice a rough sound in the dim lights of the limousine.

“I know,” she whispered back, feeling the intensity of the moment.

They rode in silence, his hands skimming lightly over her back. Chloe suspected that she should move off of his lap, but it felt too good, leaning against him like this. She could feel his body, feel his muscles against her softness. She felt beautiful in his arms. It was such a rare feeling, she wanted to savor the sensation for a bit longer.

The limousine pulled to a smooth stop outside of a beautiful house. Not a hotel? Chloe didn’t care. She just wanted to be with Marco tonight.

“Are you ready for this?” he asked, taking her hand as they stepped out of the limousine.

“Yes!” she whispered urgently. “Very ready for this!”

He smiled, his fingers tightening on hers. She started to walk forward, then remembered the packages. “I left something important in your car!” she gasped, pulling back slightly.

“I’ll protect you, Chloe. There’s no danger of pregnancy.”

Chloe almost laughed. He was right, but that was also because her mother, horrified at the possibility of becoming a grandmother, or maybe she was more repulsed at the thought of having a grandchild related to Marco, had insisted that Chloe visit her doctor to get on birth control pills. That had been one of the many appointments over the past several weeks.
