“Yes, but Lucinda has promised that she can whip up something for me in time for the wedding. It means almost daily fittings, though.”

“Can I watch?”

She laughed at his lascivious expression and felt her breasts tingle when his gaze swept over them. They were covered by the high neckline of her sheath dress at the moment, but Chloe wondered what he would think of her tiny breasts on their wedding night. Would he be disappointed? Her mother had urged Chloe to get a breast augmentation years ago, saying that men expected a bit more on top than what Chloe had. But Chloe had refused. Her mother already controlled her food and her living space. She wasn’t giving up her bodily autonomy for anything! Thankfully, her mother didn’t know about her investments or the connections she’d been working on building up for the past several years.

“Okay, go get your wedding dress.” He stepped back, although his hands lingered on her waist. “Will you have dinner with me tonight?”

Chloe shook her head. “We can’t,” she told him. “We’ve been invited to a dinner party at the Montague’s’ house tonight. I sent a message to your assistant. I’m sorry if you didn’t…”

“No, you’re right,” Marco replied, running a hand over the back of his neck. “I got the message about dinner tonight. I just forgot.”

She looked worried. “I’m sorry. My mother sent out announcements about our engagement to everyone last night as soon as she got over her horror that I was marrying someone she hadn’t chosen. But now that everyone knows your net worth and your connections, the world is eager to meet you.”

His lips curled in disgust. “And bring me into their closed circle?”

Chloe laughed, shaking her head. “Not a chance! Jennings is still going to be a challenge, but I’ll speak to him and will get you in to see him.”

“Don’t worry about Jennings,” Marco replied, bending to kiss her again. This was just a brush of his mouth against hers, and he pulled back quickly before their desire got out of hand again. “I can handle Jennings.”

Ignoring the tingling of her lips, she looked up at him curiously. “But I thought that was the reason you were marrying me! I’m supposed to…”

He leaned down again. “Your connections will be very beneficial, Chloe.” He lifted her hand, kissing her fingers. “Go get a dress. We’re to be married in a few short weeks.”

She laughed, feeling light-hearted and free because the look in his eyes told her that he wanted it to be sooner. No man had ever felt this way about her. She loved that he was so overtly sexual, and Chloe vowed that she would learn to be that way as well.

“Come on. I’ll walk you to your car.” And with that, he tucked her hand back onto his elbow and led her back around the building to the parking lot. He looked down at her car with confusion. “Is this what you drive?” he asked.

She looked at her little sedan. It wasn’t a luxury vehicle, but it got her from point A to point B without any trouble. “Yes.” She was very proud of this car. “I bought it myself, although my mother hates it. She doesn’t complain about it too much though, because the alternative is that she and my father would have to buy me a new car. They don’t want to do that and, since I paid for this myself, they just grumble about it and remind me to park behind the garage so that the neighbors don’t see it too often.” Her eyebrows lowered sternly at him. “Don’t you dare put down my little car. I love this car and I’m not going to drive anything else.”

He looked down at her again, but there was admiration in his eyes now. “I bet you look very cute driving in this little vehicle.” And he opened the door for her, stepping back to let her slide into the driver’s seat. “Drive carefully. I’ll pick you up tonight.”

“I can meet you there,” she told him. “My parents are attending as well.”

Marco shook his head. “I’ll pick you up, Chloe.” And with that, he closed the door and stepped back, whistling as he made his way towards his own vehicle.

Chloe watched him leave, admiring his tight butt and long muscular legs. She already knew that he had strong arms and her body was still tingling with awareness at the memory of the way his hands had touched her. But she now also knew that he was very…very…well endowed!

Licking her lips, she pressed the button to start the car, then forced her mind to focus on backing out of the parking space without dinging every car around her.

Three hours later, Marco walked into the white and grey store that was filled with white, ivory, and cream bridal gowns. There were even some pink ones towards the back of the store, but everything was mostly shades of white.

Thankfully, he had waited long enough that Chloe and her mother were no longer here. He paused just inside and looked around. Immediately, a blond woman in her fifties came forward on heels that looked lethal, but also made her legs look great. He wondered what Chloe would look like in heels like that.

“How can I help you, Mr. Hudson?” the woman asked, giving him a professional smile.

Marco wasn’t surprised that she knew his name. If Chloe had ordered her wedding gown from this establishment, the woman had probably gone right over to a computer and looked him up.

“I’m here about Chloe Forsythe’s wedding gown,” he started off.

“Ah!” the woman smiled. “I can assure you that the gown will be magnificent!”

Marco barely stopped himself from rolling his eyes. He had no doubt that the gown would be…interesting. He wasn’t sure if Jocelyn Forsythe would force Chloe into a dress that made her look ridiculous so the woman could say that Chloe had horrible taste, or if the mother would want Chloe to look good so she could brag to her “friends” that it was all her advice that made Chloe look so elegant. Either way, he didn’t give a damn.

“I need two things,” he said, then pulled out his wallet and laid down a credit card.

When he finished explaining what he wanted, the woman smiled, picked up his credit card and nodded. “Not a problem, sir!” she replied and started making notes.
