Maeve bit her lip, the wheels in her mind very obviously spinning. “Okay, deal. I’m one of Morry’s girls.”

Trev sat back in his chair as a wave of shock flowed through him. That was a name he hadn’t heard since he’d returned, but he knew Morry well, and he knew that she had her own unique brand of cleaning up trash.

“She sent you didn’t she, that’s how you knew. I love her so much. Okay what do you want to know, lets get started.”

This just got a lot more interesting.

Trev opened the penthouse door, and he was greeted by silence. The surprise caused his senses to go on high alert.

“Delilah, are there any hostiles in the penthouse?” He whispered into his phone.

“There is only one heat signature registering,” the AI reported.

“Who does the heat signature belong to?”

“Master Cody.” Trev’s body relaxed, and he closed the door, placing his finger over the security panel to re-lock him inside.

Where the heck was everyone?

Trev followed the delicious aroma, the unmistakable scent of grilling meat strong in his nose. He made his way to the kitchen and stood in the doorway to appreciate the view. Cody had his headphones on, his body swaying to the unknown music—he was busy pouring something into smaller bowls before he bent over and placed them in the oven. The corner of Trev’s mouth pulled up as he watched the tantalizing show.

Cody didn’t know it yet, but Trev was plotting to get him naked once and for all. Cody turned to flip the grilled meat and jumped back as his eyes landed on him. “Jesus Christ, you gave me a heart attack—I thought this place always alerted you when someone walked in?”

Trev sat down his coat and briefcase. “That’s only if you’re not me.” He gave Cody a cheeky smile.

“Well, a little warning would’ve been nice, I’m supposed to be this badass gangster, and I almost squealed louder than J.J. over a spider.”

Trev laughed and noticed that his side only mildly twinged. “Where is everyone? It’s normally a zoo in here.”

“They are all at the house checking out the new repairs and upgrades, and they thought they would stay away for the night.” Cody lifted his eyes and locked his stare with him. There was a devious glint in his eye as he grinned. A surge of heat rushed down his body and straight to his cock. “I decided to try making dinner. Sally has been showing me the basics. I may have shot a little too high with the souffle for dessert.”

“That’s fine. I have always been more of a salty over sweet kind of guy.” Cody licked his lips as they stared at one another. Trev didn’t elaborate, but the implication hung in the air between them. The temperature in the room rose with each second that passed. Trev pulled on the knot of his tie and flicked open the top couple buttons of the grey dress shirt. He loved the way Cody’s breathing visibly quickened and pupils dilated with his every move.

“Ouch.” Cody jumped back from the stove, shaking his finger, before putting it in his mouth. Trev’s cock hardened as he watched that finger slip between his lips. “That will teach me not to get distracted while cooking.”

“I think it’s best if I go get changed before I distract you any further, and trust me, I’m tempted.” He grabbed his discarded items and marched the long hall toward the bedroom, not waiting for a reply.

By the time he stepped foot into the kitchen again, the table was set, including a bottle of wine as Cody filled the plates. “Thank you for doing this.”

Cody sat the plates down and slid into the seat across from him. “Don’t mention it. So how was your meeting with Maeve?”

“There is a lot to unpack there, so why don’t we wait until Arek is present? Besides, I don’t want to waste this rare moment of alone time on work talk.”

“What would you like to discuss then?” Cody cut into his steak, and Trev smirked as Cody cut it into perfectly even strips. The simple act speaking to the personality that lay under the once Ice Man exterior. Each day they spent together he recognized subtle changes in Cody, like he was poking his head out of a cocoon and re-inventing himself. Everything Cody did from the way he poured the wine to the fact he held his knife and fork so prim and proper completely fascinated him.

“Have you decided if you’re going to meet your father? You do know that Renee is never going to stop pestering you until you do.”

Cody sighed and ate another mouthful, giving him time to dig into his own plate of delicious food. “I don’t know. It’s like the fact he left has been wiped away for her, and I don’t understand why.”

“Not to be facetious, but maybe if you talked to him, you’d find out the answer.”

“I’m not going to like arguing with a lawyer all the time, am I?” Cody raised an eyebrow, but his lip followed with the light humor.

“Only if you want to be wrong all the time.” Trev smiled, and they both broke out in laughter.

By the time dinner was finished, Trev was more determined than ever to get Cody naked and lay him out on the table like he was the dessert and the souffle be damned. His cock hadn’t deflated once during the meal, and every time Cody stood, the thing would throb all the more as he bent over and showed off his firm ass. He wanted another taste of this all too sexy man. He wanted to feel the corded muscles of his back flex under his touch and hear Cody call out his name as he made him come.

Trev stood and helped remove the dishes and made sure to brush by Cody, enjoying the sharp intake of breath.
