“Hold image, I can see now.” Trev looked him in the eyes. “Two more men in the room at the end on the left, both are armed, and police have been dispatched. Approximate arrival time is ten minutes. You still want to stay?”

“More than ever.” Cody rubbed his hands together with the building excitement.

Trev nodded, and they silently slipped down the hall to the aforementioned room. Trev once more held his finger up to his lips and then stared at the solid wall. He pulled what looked like a flat plastic square out of his pocket and placed it on the wall. Then, he went a little further, mimicking the action.

Marching back toward him, Trev grabbed Cody’s arm and pulled him away from the room.

“Duck and cover your ears.”

Cody did as he was told, and Trev immediately draped his body over Cody’s. If his one-track minded cock hadn’t already been stirring, it sure as shit did with the feel of Trev pressed up against him like a second skin. This man was addicting, and his close proximity was making Cody’s head swim. Trev’s cheek rubbed against his neck, and he bit his lip to not moan at the heat. His fresh, clean scent seeped under his skin and into his subconscious. That minty scent would haunt him forever. Even though the moment only lasted a few seconds, he knew he was done. He had to find a way to have Trev.

Cody tried to relish in the man’s touch a little longer, but instead, a loud explosion went off. What felt like a gale whipped past them, billowing his track pants around his legs. Even with his ears covered, the sound left his ears ringing as he choked on drywall dust falling in the wake of it.

He coughed while Trev disappeared into the cloud of dust. He stared straight ahead into the hole that had just been created, but Trev was simply gone. The guy was like a fucking magician. He could hear a yell and then the distinct sound of Trev’s silencer firing two shots. Cody knew without looking they would be perfect kills.

“Here, take this.” Trev emerged from the hole, stepping over the rubble to hand him two large duffel bags. Trev disappeared back inside the room and came out with a third bag. “Okay, let’s move out.”

“Try not to step in the blood,” Trev said and then sprinted down along the corridor. Easier said than done when you couldn’t see where you were stepping and lugging massive bags. It was a bloody good thing he was in good shape, or he wouldn’t have been able to keep up behind Trev.

The man was certainly faster than he would’ve placed money on. Cody’s shoulders were burning with the strain of the bags that felt like they weighed a ton each. They burst out the door he’d snuck into the building by, and Trev led him to the Hummer.

“Sweet Delilah, open trunk.” The hatch lifted, and once more, Cody wondered who Trev was talking to…the sky, and ivory tower somewhere? “Put the bags in.”

He did as he was ordered and could just make out sirens in the distance. “What the hell was this for? You left a small massacre back there.”

“Why is not your concern—did you drive?”

“Yeah.” Cody ground his teeth together and crossed his arms over his chest.

“Okay, get going. Head west, and don’t draw any attention to yourself. I’ll meet you at home, and we will be having a discussion about your stalker behavior,” Trev commanded, jogging toward the door.

“Where are you going?”

“I need to wipe your prints,” Trev growled back.

“And, I wasn’t stalking you,” Cody called out after him before marching to his car.

At least I hadn’t set out to stalk you.He thought but kept that to himself.

The thought of Trevor punishing him had a fresh wave of inappropriate thoughts racing to the surface. This was insane, he had literally been in the middle of a shootout with a gun to his head and all he could picture was unzipping Trev’s pants and getting on his fucking knees to suck that cock and dead people be damned. He needed to find a new hobby if he had any chance of getting this guy and the lapse of mental judgment out of his head.

The mental image of Trev in that outfit was going to give him wood for weeks.

Arek jumped from the warm bed and pulled on boxers as he ran toward the sound of yelling. It was coming from Trev’s office, and as he got closer to the door, he was easily able to make out Trev and Cody’s voices.

“Whoa, what is going on in here? You two are going to wake up J.J.,” Arek said as he walked in on the pair. He paused as he took in Trev’s attire. It had been so long since he’d seen his brother dressed for battle, well, non-courtroom battle, that it seemed wrong, and yet he immediately had the urge to salute him.

“Cody here thought it was a bright idea to follow me tonight,” Trev said by way of an explanation.

“I’m sorry I followed you. I didn’t know if it was you or Arek when I saw the Hummer leaving. I just thought….”

“You thought what? That we would need help with our mission? That you wanted to play soldier? Or that you’d get dirt on one of us?”

“Yes, no…fuck. Yes to the help part, no to the get dirt on you part. I started out for a fucking run and curiosity got the best of me when I saw the strange vehicle leaving the garage. Then when I saw it was you at the mall and you were armed I thought you may want help, which turned into concern when I heard the gunfire,” Cody rambled out in a single sentence before taking a breath “Why the hell would I want dirt on either of you? That guy,” Cody stopped long enough to point his finger in Arek’s direction. “Is with my sister. And you kept me out of prison for fucks sake—it wouldn’t even make sense.”

“Gunfire? What doesn’t make sense?” Renee asked as she stepped into the room.

“Great, the entire family is here. Why don’t I go and make some popcorn? We can make a real event of it,” Trev practically growled as he stormed over and grabbed a bottle of tequila. That wasn’t a good sign. He never broke open tequila unless it was a really bad day. Trev didn’t even bother with the glass, which turned the not-good sign into an oh-shit moment. Arek had only seen him this level of pissed a couple of times in his life, and it was never pretty.
