“He what? Son of a…”

“Don’t be mad with him. I demanded he take me, and honestly, even if he hadn’t, I would’ve followed.”

Trev rolled his eyes at Cody. “Yes, you do seem to have a knack for not doing what you’re told. You and my brother have that in common.”

“We weren’t that far away, which was lucky. Good thing too, if we’d been any later, you’d be dead, and I don’t think Arek would’ve handled that well.” Cody didn’t say why, but Trev could guess.

Trev aborted the argument he was about to make. His eyes dropped to their now interlaced fingers and thought how comfortable it felt familiar and yet, so different than Mel. There was a spark traveling up his arm, his pulse quickened, and even with the fierce amounts of pain, he wanted a much more intimate moment between them.

“I’m not very good at this,” Trev said. He looked back up into Cody’s eyes, admiring the view as he took in the body under the tight shirt. He swallowed hard.

“Not very good at what?”

“This…whatever this is between us. I haven’t been with anyone in a long time, and I’m afraid I’ve lost the art of flirting or acting human,” Trev joked.

Cody smirked, his body relaxing into the love seat as he rested his head on his hand. “I think you are doing pretty well. The snarky remarks could be toned down, though.”

A flush spread across Trev’s body. “I guess I need to apologize to you again. It seems to be a bad habit that I’m making where you are concerned. I do have my reasons, I just…”

“It’s okay. You don’t need to tell me right now. I really do have to go get Arek before he finds you upright, and I end up diced sushi.” Cody leaned in a little, lowering his voice. “Your brother is fucking scary.” He made to stand, but Trev gripped his hand harder.

Confusion crossed Cody’s features. Trev cupped the side of Cody’s face and drew him in before he lost his nerve. There was no resistance, and as those soft lips touched his own, the last of the baggage that had been chained around his soul faded away.

He moaned into the soft contact and deepened the kiss until their tongues battled for dominance. The passion and connection between them was electric and burned with a white-hot desire. Trev’s cock stood at attention inside the thin material he was sporting and was so ready to take this to the next level regardless of what the rest of his body said. He traced the dips of Cody’s body, his finger exploring the plains of the man he’d wanted to touch from the first moment they met. There was the ripple of muscle on his washboard abs that made him moan into Cody’s mouth before his hand found the large bulge inside his jeans.

Gripping the length, he gave it a squeeze and earned a strangled groan from Cody’s lips. Cody’s body shuddered as he broke the kiss and pulled away to stand. They were both breathing hard, and Cody’s eyes were trained on the undeniable erection that was tenting out Trev’s boxers. Trev stared up at Cody and wondered if he lost his chance to see if they could become something more.

“Oh, you are testing my resolve, but you’re in no shape for what I would do to you if we go any further right now. Besides, if I don’t get Arek, he will cut mine off, and then I wouldn’t get to enjoy you at all.”

Trev smirked as Cody marched across the floor and disappeared out the door.

He stared down at the tent in his boxers.Might as well do something else useful then.He focused his eyes on his dresser and slowly heaved himself to his feet.

By the time he emerged from the bathroom, dressed, and cleaned up, Arek and Cody were back. There was a stark contrast between the two. Cody looked cool as a cucumber while Arek paced at high speed like a fucking annoying fly. Arek spied him first, and he tensed for what he knew was coming as Arek sprinted the short distance and wrapped him in a hug.

He sucked in a sharp breath as his body screamed with the assault. “Oh shit, I’m sorry,” Arek said but refused to break contact. “I can’t let you go. Don’t you ever fucking scare me like that again, you mother fucker, it almost killed me,” Arek said. Trev laughed and wrapped his brother in his own embrace. “It’s just so good to see you awake.”

“I love you too, Arek,” Trev said softly, and his brother’s body shuddered and finally relaxed. “How long was I out?” He asked, finally getting Arek to break his iron grip.

“Long enough to scare the fucking shit out of me, make me drink a case of Pepto-Bismol, and for Renee to order me to sleep on the couch because I was driving her insane.”

Trev laughed, he could picture all of that. “Come on, help a guy out. I need to sit down again.” For a moment, he thought Arek was going to pick him up, but with a glare, he wrapped an arm around his waist instead.

“What the hell were you thinking doing that job alone?” Arek started the moment his ass found the seat. “I mean, really? There were over twenty men in that place, plus the lunatic himself. You’d never let me try a move that stupid. Do you even care that I almost had a fucking heart attack when I saw you hanging from those chains?” Trev just let his brother rant. No point in interrupting his roll. It would only drag the shit train out longer. “I thought you were dead, and it would’ve been my fault, you fucking prick. I could not have lived with that, the guilt that I killed my best friend, my only damn brother. No, no, not again. If I have to put some tracking shit in your skin like a sci-fi flick, I will do it.” Arek pointed the mother finger at him, and he looked so much like their mother in that moment, he burst out laughing and then grabbed at his sore side.

Shit, that hurt.

“Don’t you laugh at me, you cocksucker. No matter how much I love your ass, I will kick it to tomorrow and back again if you don’t tell me what the hell you were trying to accomplish with that suicidal mission.”

“If you’d let your motor mouth take a break, I’d be happy to tell you.” Trev pointed to the chair, and Arek collapsed into it like his body had finally given out from the stress. “You know that I got the offer to feed intel to Alejandro, but I couldn’t find any. I questioned every lead we had, and the night that Cody followed me, I managed to steal a great number of things, but there wasn’t a single piece of information on who runs the Golden Dragons or how to find a contact.”

“So what? You were planning on taking out Alejandro instead?”

“Yes, but not because of that. Shit, where is Sally?” He asked as panic bloomed in his chest.

“She’s in the kitchen with Renee. Why?”

“Did you not notice her living here?” Trev lifted his eyebrow in question.
