“Bambi, don’t you think I know why your brother decided to work for me? His hope was always that you would run away and never come back. Though, he did end up one hell of a second for a time. Didn’t you, Ice Man?”

Tyson winked, and Cody made a sound like a growl that rumbled from behind the tape. His large body straightened, his muscles bulging with the wild rage burning in his eyes.

“I can’t let him go. He’ll sadly always try to protect you. I mean, look at him.” Tyson got real close to her ear, and the quaking in her body worsened. “But there is no saving you now, little deer. I’m going to break you, and you’ll scream and beg me to stop every single time.”

His tongue darted out of his mouth, drawing a wet line across her cheek up to her ear, and she gagged, making him snicker.

“But I won’t.” That disgusting thing he called a tongue came back toward her mouth, dragging another slobbery line in its wake.

A quick burst of all-consuming courage and vehemence filled her. She wasn’t going down without a fight. As Tyson’s tongue got close to her mouth, she snapped at it like an animal in a trap. He screamed as she bit down hard, the strong taste of blood filling her mouth as she bit the tip clean off. Tyson jumped away from her, yelling every profanity in the book and then some as blood poured from his mouth.

She spat the disgusting little piece of flesh on the floor as the jerk who had walked her into the room rushed to Tyson’s side. Renee dashed for her brother but only made it a couple of strides when she was grabbed by the hair again. This time it was used as leverage to throw her across the room. She landed on the desk her mother was killed on, hard, the air whooshing out of her lungs as her knee hit the edge.

Renee opened her mouth in a silent scream as she slid awkwardly onto the floor with a resounding crash and whimpered as her elbow and the side of her face took the brunt of her weight. She felt paralyzed as her body screamed at her.

Dear god, she didn’t know someone could physically hurt this much, such a naive thought for someone that grew up seeing so much violence.

She could just see Tyson come around the edge of the desk. He held out his hand, and someone, she presumed Jerk, placed a gun into his palm. She smiled at him. If she was going to die, she wanted it quick. She didn’t want him breaking her spirit like the other women out there or worse.

“You think you’re smart?” Tyson swung the gun behind him, not bothering to look, and shot twice. Cody yelled as both bullets hit him. One hit his shoulder, the other hit his side, and she roared like a demon as she leapt for Tyson. The gun went off a third time, but the bullet harmlessly hit the wall. He swung around and clipped her in the jaw with the butt of the gun. She grabbed at her jaw as she crumpled to the floor on her ass. As she moved her tongue around, a tooth came loose. She spat it out on the floor, her eyes filling with unshed tears.

Tyson towered over her menacingly, but she refused to give in and glared up at him. Guns suddenly erupted in the warehouse's outer area, and Tyson turned in the direction of the noise just as the door swung open.

“Boss, it’s the Syphons. They’re attacking.” The guy ran back out, and Tyson looked between her and her brother before growling in frustration. He wiped the blood off his face with the back of his hand and marched for the door.

“Make sure she doesn’t escape,” Tyson ordered to the Jerk, and he slammed the office door shut behind him. Renee took the chance and slowly stood and acted like she was dizzy, which wasn’t far from the truth. Renee stumbled toward Tyson’s desk, leaning one hand gently against the desk’s surface. Touching her face, she discreetly fumbled around for anything she could use as a weapon. Sliding her hand under some papers, Renee felt something metal and cool that was a pen. Gripping it in her hand, she pulled it out and stared down at a letter opener that looked like a naked woman with her legs spread. The sharp portion looked like a giant dick sticking out from between her legs.

Concealing the idiotic-looking weapon along her forearm, she slowly made her way toward her brother. His pained groans terrified her because she had no idea how bad he’d been hit.

“Where do you think you’re going,” the Jerk asked.

She faced him, his eyes locked on hers as she continued to inch closer to her brother.

“I said stop moving,” the guy ordered.

She kept going, passing Tyson’s ratty couch and then stepping closer to Cody.

“I said stop fucking moving!” the Jerk stomped toward her. His boots managed to sound loud even with the immense amount of gunfire that was just outside the door.

Her hand clenched around the letter opener as her legs tensed for the right moment. He made the error of underestimating her, and she sprung forward with her concealed weapon, stabbing him in the eye. The wet, popping sound it made as the eye exploded like a cherry tomato and ran down his face had her turning away to vomit.

High pitched wails hurt her ears as the guy ran backward into the wall. She watched in morbid fascination as he continued to scream and run around in circles, like a chicken with its head cut off. Renee covered her mouth as more bile threatened to make an appearance and was unable to hold it back as she caught sight of the eye on the floor.

Refocusing as quickly as she could, she knew she had to get to Cody. That thought was the only thing that kept her from passing the fuck out.
