Her scalp screamed as Tyson forcefully yanked on her hair, drawing tears from her eyes. Her heart hammered as she gripped the sheet to channel the pain. His nose traveled up the side of her neck, and she bit the inside of her cheek, trying not to scream. He smelled like stale sweat and death that he tried to mask with way too much cologne.
“Are you sure you don’t just want to go back to whatever wonderful dream you were having?” He lifted his body over hers, his large chest applying enough pressure to ensure she understood the danger she was in. When his forehead touched hers, his eyes were wild with anger.
Trust me. It was no beautiful dream.
“I won’t lie to you.” She licked her dry lips. “Do I want you here in my house, in my bed? No, you know I don’t want to be dragged into the life you and my brother live. I’ve told you that for years, and it hasn’t changed.”
Tyson eased back. Leaning on his arms, he looked down at her.
“You know that it is inevitable, don’t you? I will claim you one of these days, and you will come willingly.”
She wanted to spit in his face, bite his fucking nose off and eat it in front of him, but she had J.J. to think about, and her fighting, until she died, did nothing to help him.
“Yes, I will, but only if you leave now and don’t force me to have sex while my brother is in the house.” Renee nodded toward J.J.’s sleeping form.
“Do you think you are in any position to negotiate with me?”
“Maybe not, but I do know you would prefer to have me become a showpiece that fawns all over you and doesn’t try to run or force you to kill me.”
Finger shaking, she traced a circle on his pec and watched goosebumps rise where she touched.
“I can be a lot of fun when I’m willing to play whatever games you have in mind, but if you do this to me now, in front of my brother…I’ll never forgive you. You will just end up killing me, and since you have waited this long to claim me, I know that is not what you want. I’m guessing you’d like to have a Tyson of your own, maybe two. You seem like you’d like a mini-me showpiece to show off to all your business associates that will make them green with jealousy?”
Tyson leaned into her body once more, his chest pressing into hers and effectively trapping her. His disgusting breath was hot on her skin, not at all the way Arek’s was. She managed to swallow, demanding her body not to throw up and give her away. His lips touched her ear, and she sucked in a breath, freezing in place.
“You better not be lying to me, Bambi. I will gut you and fuck your insides while you are still breathing—I like a little blood.” He nipped her earlobe, and her nails dug into the mattress as hard as she could to hold still.
Tyson slowly rose from the bed, but his eyes never left hers. She followed the movement of his hand as it slid into his pocket to pull out the pair of dirty underwear she’d tossed in the hamper.
“Mmmnn, you smell so good.” She couldn’t hate anyone more than him. Images of killing Tyson danced before her eyes—she’d never been one for violence, but at this moment, all she wanted was a gun. “Remember, I can get to you any time, any place. You try to run, and it will be that innocent little boy that will pay the price. Don’t think I won’t know if you try to run.” A wicked smile spread across his face. “I see you everywhere.”
Renee watched him walk out of the bedroom door, and she listened for his feet going down the stairs. As soon as the front door closed, she jumped up and ran down the stairs to triple-check all the locks.
How the hell did he get in without her knowing or breaking something.
Satisfied that everything was locked, she made the trip back upstairs, her legs shaking with every step.
She reached the bedroom door and stopped dead as she stared at J.J., who was sitting up in bed.
“Is the mean man gone?”
Renee sighed and walked over to his bed to sit down. She pulled J.J. into her arms, and he held her as tightly as she held him.
“Yeah, he’s gone now.”
“Is he coming back?” Renee shivered.
“I hope not. I really hope not. Come on back into bed and back to sleep,” she said. Renee leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her brother’s forehead.
“Nae Nae?” His small hand touched her face. “I loves you.”
Tears pricked the back of her eyes. “I love you too.”
Renee left the light on as she laid down. She couldn’t sleep after that. Her skin crawled with the feel of Tyson’s touch still lingering on her body—his disgusting scent stuck in her nose. Even Lysol didn’t have a cleaner strong enough to disinfect the germs he left behind. Fuck, she needed to find a way to escape this craziness.
