Cody looked in the rearview mirror and made sure his hair looked as messy as possible. He pulled himself out of the car and limped toward the new shit-ass house they were in tonight. It was like Tyson was meant to live the life of a gypsy, traveling all the mother fucking time. They never stayed more than a week in the same spot, and he was sick of it.

It was part of Tyson’s slow mental breakdown of your psyche, but knowing it didn't make it any easier.

“Holy shit, man, what happened to you?” the guard leaning against the door asked as he hobbled up the steps.

“Where’s Tyson?” Cody asked, not bothering to answer the question. He ranked above this guy, so he didn’t have to say shit to him.

“He’s in the basement.”

Cody pulled open the door and quickly assessed the lay of the land. To the left were the guards. Some were actually doing their jobs, others were using the merch they sold, and the rest were getting fucked by the variety of girls. To the right were the sounds of more fucking, which was great. It meant he wasn’t going to get any sleep at this cockroach-infested shit hole, even if Tyson didn’t kill him.

He found the stairs to the basement and exaggerated the limp and thump of each step as he made his way down. He could hear one of theFast and Furiousmovies playing as he neared the bottom. Cody shook his head but kept his comments to himself as he stepped into what used to be an entertainment area at one point.

“Where have you been,” Tyson asked, not bothering to look over. He was too busy cutting a pattern into the back of one of the new girls. She’d either passed out or was already high, but she never made a sound as the blade cut another long line across her back. At least she was still breathing.

“I went to do as you asked and spoke to my sister.”

“Yeah, and how did that go?”

“Not very fucking well,” Cody growled out, making sure to sound as angry as possible.

“And why is that,” Tyson asked, again too focused on his work to look at him.

“Because the mother fucking bitch is gone.” That got Tyson’s attention. His head whipped in his direction. The knife he was using to slice up the girl’s back was shaking in his hand.

“What do you mean she is gone?”

“Look at me, man. I mean, she is gone. I didn’t even make it to her front door, and some fucker jumped me from behind. This was no regular guy. You know how well I can fight, and he knocked my ass out cold.”

“And you didn’t see who it was?”

“Naw, he had a hoodie pulled up, and his face painted black.” Cody took a step and winced, his hand going to his side. “The fucker was almost my height and well trained, like really well trained.”

Cody had never been much for acting, but the beauty of this lie was that it was ninety-nine percent the truth.

Tyson’s body began to shake, and Cody could feel the rage from across the room.“Aaaahhhh,” Tyson screamed.

Cody prepared for the worst as Tyson lifted his arm into the air with the knife but instead brought the blade down into the girl’s back. The long blade sank to the hilt.

She gave a small scream before she began coughing up blood.

Over and over again, Tyson pulled the blade out and slammed it back home into the flesh of the young woman’s back until she was nothing more than a slab of bloodied, unrecognizable flesh. Her face was missing on one side, and so much damage littered across her torso that at any moment, Cody expected her legs to fall off and lay with the rest of her internal organs on the floor. Tyson was coated head to toe in bright red blood. He looked like he was just ripped from the womb of a demon. Then again, Cody was pretty sure the guy was a demon.

“I want her found. I warned her what I would do if she tried to run,” Tyson’s voice calmer now that he’d expelled his rage. “I want to know who this fucker is that dared to take my Bambi and bring your mother to me.”

“My mother? I don’t know where she is. Why do you want her?” Cody dared to ask as someone came down the stairs and promptly vomited when they saw the carnage.

“She owes me multiple favors for her debts. I think it’s time she helped repay them, that’s all.” Tyson wiped the blade on his jeans like that was going to clean it. “I have faith you will find a way to use your substantial skills to find the hole she’s held up in.”

“Okay.” Cody slowly turned around.

“Oh, and Cody?” Cody looked over his shoulder at Tyson. “If I find out you had anything to do with her disappearance, I will fuck you up. That scar on your face will be the least of your concerns by the time I’m through with you.”

Cody nodded but didn’t care if he lived or died. He could only hope that Arek would hold up his end of the bargain and make sure he kept his sister safe.

“I have every right to see my daughter!” Daddy was yelling, he was at the door, but mommy told her to stay in her room. She hadn’t seen daddy in a long time and wanted to see him so badly. Deciding that seeing her daddy was more important than getting in trouble, she ran down the stairs as fast as she could and passed her mother before she knew what was happening.

“Daddy!”
