The appeal of a date with Thea made sense, even though she wasn’t his usual type. But the fact that he’d so easily and readily agreed to the possibility of a second date, without even having been on the first one yet, was completely uncharacteristic. He had no idea what had motivated him to do that.
But he didn’t regret it. He was glad they were going out, and he had to admit that the idea of a second date appealed to him in a way it never had with any other girl.
There’s just something special about her.
He reached the parking lot and unlocked the secondhand car he’d saved up to buy for himself. Sliding behind the wheel, he let his thoughts roam over the possibilities.
The Waffle Shack wasn’t going to do it this time. He was going to have to come up with something really good for their date on Saturday, somewhere extra special to take her after the game. He was going to earn that second date. He was going to make her want to see him as badly as he wanted to see her.
Senior year is a weird time to fall for someone.
