An hour later she comes into the kitchen glowing from head to toe and more beautiful than ever. There is a knock at the door. I pull it open excitedly, expecting to see Mr. Ford, the jeweller, but instead, there stands Alicia. I see her most days at work and I avoid her like the plague. Kara makes sure she is kept out of the loop and has little chance to cause me any trouble. Given half the chance, I think Kara would throw her off the building, but that wouldn’t go down well with HR.
“Oh, what can I do for you, Alicia?” I asked icily. I don’t want her here.
“I’ve brought you a little house-leaving gift.” She waves a bottle of champagne as she strides inside.
“Hello, Alicia. I’m very sorry, but we are just going out. Thank you for the gift.” Sutton takes the bottle from her hands. “I’m sure we will enjoy it in our new home when the children are born.” Sutton reels it off so quick, I can’t help but smirk and, before I can blink, Sutton is at the door waving her arm in a way that you show someone out. Alicia looks completely befuddled and shocked but leaves.
“Thanks for stopping by, but don’t do it again. We won’t be here,” Suttons sings as she slams the door. Walking back over to the island, she slaps her hands together as if she’s just put the rubbish out.
“Can we give this to charity?” she asks.
“Yep,” I reply and pull her back into my arms. “I fucking love you, Mrs. McGarry.”
“I like the sound of that.” She smiles.
The End
