“You mean where do we make love?” I nod in the direction of the Murphy bed on the wall adjacent to the window and across from the couch. There’s barely enough room for it with the table in the center. She glances around and smiles.

“You approve of my home?”

“I love your home. It has everything we need.”

“Each other,” I say. I slip my hand to her neck, feel the jumping pulse there, feel the heat and excitement coming off her, or coming off me and bouncing back from her.

“I’m so glad you live alone.”

“I worked hard to make it happen. I’m too old for a roommate. Too intense, according to my last one.”

She laughs. “I love your intensity.” She looks around again, as if she finds something missing. “I still don’t get how you can afford it. Do you sell your sculptures?”

“No.” I speak up with harsh quickness. “Not technically. Not unless you count ice sculptures.”

“Ah. It all makes sense now.” She looks pleased. I’m pleased too, but the rising need in me is more urgent, impatient. I pull her close to let her know where my head’s at, what I’m feeling. She pushes her hips against me in a torturous grind in answer, then tilts her head up and kisses me.
