Epilogue
Rylee
“Hey,” I run my fingers across Lenkov’s back as I join him on the same patio where we first made love a few months prior.
“Mom moved out of the house today.”
“I know. She’s only in the townhouse, though. She could’ve left the property altogether. That’s a good sign.”
“Maybe.” He sighs. “They’ve always seemed so happy. It’s hard to imagine them divorced. She said she needed space, and I get it. I mean, Papa has another son and judging by how he’s having his past indiscretions investigated, there might be more.”
“And how do you feel about that?”
“I don’t know.” Lenkov shakes his head. “I mean, usually, family is the more the merrier, but not at the expense of my mother’s heart. She’s going through enough.”
“And where does that leave you with Vilen?”
“He lost everything. None of us can resent him for things that aren’t his fault. Poor guy was just as blinded as we were.” Lenkov sighs. “Seeing Dad with him is bittersweet. He’s trying, but he’s hurt us so badly with his careless choices.”
He wraps an arm around my waist and pulls me into him.
“I know it’s been a rough time for you. Which is why I wanted to do something special.”
“What did you do, trickster?” he asks, perking up.
“Have a seat, and I’ll show you.” I wink.
Taking a seat, he grins. I’ve missed the boyish, cocky smile that was once permanently attached to his lips. Walking into the kitchen, I pull the parfaits from the fridge. Retracing my steps, I pause in the doorway, admiring him beneath the fairy lights. It’s the face of the man I’ve come to love. The awareness of the deep emotion isn’t startling. It was the destination at the end of the journey we began years ago. Falling into a comfortable pattern was as easy as breathing. Figuring out co-parenting was fun, even when our different beliefs were challenging.
“What’s this?” Lenkov asks.
“Just a little something.” I pause. “Sweet.”
“You know I have a sweet tooth.”
“I’m counting on it.” I set the strawberry, vanilla mousse, and whipped cream concoction on the table. “Tonight’s about you.” I remove the spoon and hold it up to his lips.
“You’re going to feed me now?”
“I thought you liked it when I did that?”
He laughs and parts his lips. There’s something sensual about the act of feeding him.
“Good?” I tease.
“Delicious, but I think I need something a little sweeter.”
“You want me to go find some chocolate drizzle?” I arch my eyebrow.
“I want you to bring your tasty little pussy over here.”
“I have something else for you.” I place my heeled foot on the chair beside him and lift my skirt to reveal the lacy black panties with the open crotch.
“Fuck. You’re too good to me, woman.” He licks his lips, and I cup the back of his head as he moves in.
Gripping a hand of hair, I tug him back. “Lenk?”
“Yes, baby?”
“I love you.”
His eyes dilate, and he grips my ass. “I love you, too. Let me show you how much.”
Diving forward, he presses his tongue into my core, and I lean back, watching the stars above as he dips into my heated core, and we lose ourselves in the stolen moment. I’ve found where I belong, now I can decide what my future will look like with the love of my life at my side.
