“But there’s a possibility that it might,” Taredd said. “We won’t know unless we try.”

“Trust me,” Arun sighed heavily. “We’ve discussed that at length.”

“And?” Dain asked.

Arun blew out a breath before replying. “We both agree,” he said reluctantly. “We need to give the spell the best chance in working. So to do that, we need to find some standing stones.”

“That’s where Lacie said she can help,” Selene said. “She said she knows where there is some.”

Everyone turned to Lacie and looked at her expectantly.

“Are they close by?” Taredd asked.

“Yes,” she nodded. “It shouldn’t take us long to get there. If we leave soon, we should be there before mid-day.”

“Good,” Taredd said. “The less time we spend travelling, the better. Especially with so many of us going.”

“Agreed,” Arun said.

She knew he still wasn’t happy about it, but at least he was finally agreeing to it and not arguing with her.

“Right, let’s get ready to go,” Dain said as he climbed to his feet.

“Before we leave,” Arun said, stopping everyone in their tracks. “I just want to double check that all the females can fight. If you need a weapon, I need to know what type so I can make sure you are all well-equipped before we leave.”

“Good point,” Dain said. “Amberly should be fine. She can shift if necessary, but the other females will need something to fight with.”

“I can tell you what everyone needs,” Lacie offered.

“Thank you,” Arun said to her. To everyone else, he said, “Get ready, we’ll meet outside in a few minutes.”

Without another word, everyone except Lacie, Arun, Selene, Taredd, and Natalia left the room. Selene was about to follow them out of the room when Arun placed a hand on her arm, stopping her.

“Stay with me,” he said when she looked up at him.

She saw the worried look in his eyes and nodded. “Okay.”

He smiled at her before turning his attention back to Lacie. For the next few minutes, she sat back and watched as he used his magic to create all the weapons Lacie listed off.

Selene was in awe of his magic. She could cast spells to protect herself, but she’d never been able to produce a solid object, such as a sword. If she wanted one, she either had to find, steal, or make one herself. And since she didn’t know how to make one, she was left with either of the first two options.
