Chapter 26

Arun didn’t hang around the bunker for a second longer. There was no point, he knew where she was and who she was with, and they weren’t going to bring her back.

The only way he was going to get her back was by fighting his brother for her. It would probably be a fight to the death, but Arun was fine with that.

It all made sense now. The reason she hated Fae so much was because of his brother. He should have known Agnarr had something to do with it. He wasn’t exactly known for his fair treatment of Humans, especially those in his harem. Arun didn’t know the details of their relationship, but he didn’t need to. He knew his brother.

If he harms her in any way, I’m going to make him suffer before killing him!

It didn’t take long to track down Taredd and Dain. He wasn’t surprised to find them not far from where he’d left them. However, he was surprised to find them travelling with not one, but two Humans, both of which were female. He was even more shocked to find out that they had both claimed the females as their mates.

Arun wasn’t sure if it was true. For all he knew, it could just be idle gossip from bored locals with nothing better to talk about. But from the sound of it, they hadn’t exactly been quiet about it.

Apparently, Taredd had been seen rampaging through a village when a group of lesser Demons had taken his female from him. And they had both attacked a hoard of Vampires to retrieve Dain’s female. Arun couldn’t wait to find out what had been going on in his absence, but the questions would have to wait until after they had rescued Selene.

Getting her away from Agnarr was his number one priority. His brother saw her as his property, so he would treat her as such.

Arun’s blood boiled at the thought of his brother’s hands on Selene. Every second she was with him, she was in danger.

Every eye in the tavern turned to him as he walked through the door. He ignored them all and headed straight for the bar at the far end of the room. He stopped at the bar long enough to ask the tavern owner which room Taredd and Dain were in, then he headed upstairs in search of them. He took the stairs two at a time until he reached the top and then he walked along the corridor, looking for their rooms.

The first room he came to was empty. He knew they hadn’t left the tavern yet, so it meant they were all in the same room. Which would save him some time when it came to explaining the situation.

Arun didn’t bother to knock. He just let himself in. Taredd and Dain instantly took up defensive positions, blocking his access to the females that were on the bed. As soon as they realised it was him, though, they both stood down.

“Arun?” Taredd and Dain said in unison.

“What are you doing here?” Dain asked.

“We were about to go looking for you,” Taredd said.

Arun looked around the room at everyone. The females stared at him with shocked looks on their faces, but he ignored them. They weren’t who he was there to see. Taredd and Dain were, and they both stared at him with worry and confusion.

“I need your help.”

“What’s happened?” Taredd was the first to ask.

“It’s a long story.” And not one he particularly wanted to get into, but he knew he had to.

“We have the time,” Dain said.

How he wished that was the case, but they didn’t. Even though he’d found them pretty quickly, it had still taken him longer than he’d liked to track them down.

“No, we don’t,” he said, shaking his head.

“What’s happened?” Taredd asked.

“My brother has kidnapped Selene.” Just saying the words made him see red.

“Who’s Selene?” Taredd and Dain asked in unison.

“Seriously, we need to talk on the move,” he said, trying to rush them out the door. “I know what my brother is like. It won’t be long until…”

He couldn’t bring himself to finish the sentence. Thankfully, Taredd and Dain got the drift and finally got their arses into gear. They packed up the last of their belongings and then ushered the females outside, where they had a horse and cart tied up around the back of the tavern.

“Got bored with walking, did you?” he asked them with a raised eyebrow.

“Don’t look at me,” Dain said. “The horse and cart was all Taredd’s idea.
