“I can’t lose her,” he said.
Just the thought of anything happening to her made his blood run cold. He didn’t want to live in this, or any world, without her.
Taredd placed a hand on his shoulder. “You’re not going to. We’re going to gather what we need and then track her down.”
“You said she took the horse?” Dain asked.
“Yes.”
“Then she’ll be easy to track,” Dain grinned. “We’ll catch up with her in no time.”
Arun knew he was right, but it didn’t make him feel any better. If anything happened to Selene, he would never forgive himself. He should have known she wouldn’t want to endanger anyone else, but he thought she would’ve at least told him.
Dain slapped him on the back. “We’ll meet you outside in five.”
Without another word, both couples rushed out the room and began grabbing what they would need.
Arun couldn’t think about anything other than Selene. He stared at different objects in the room, not really paying attention to anything, before finally turning around and walking outside.
Taredd and Dain were already waiting outside with Natalia and Amberly. Each carried a bag filled with supplies. As he approached, Taredd held a bag out for him.
“We gathered some bits for you, too,” he said, handing the bag over.
“Thanks,” he said.
“We’ve got some stuff for Selene, as well,” Amberly said. “But we’ve spread them out between all the bags.”
“Just in case she didn’t take any supplies with her,” Natalia added.
Arun smiled at the thoughtfulness. Taredd and Dain had found perfect mates in Natalia and Amberly. From the look on his friend’s face’s, they knew exactly how lucky they were.
