CHAPTER THIRTY
Taredd
Taredd didn't know what was taking Dain so long to scout the building. Yes, he was the size of a mouse, but it was only a three-story building with no more than half a dozen rooms on each floor.
Taredd was about to go in after Dain, when suddenly a mouse appeared in front of him and then transformed into the Dain he was used to seeing.
"It's not good," Dain said without preamble as Taredd rushed over to him. "There's a dozen Demons in there, one of which has just shut himself in a room with who I'm assuming is your Human female."
That was it, Taredd couldn't wait any longer. Storming straight over to the building with Dain hot on his heels, he didn't bother to knock on the door when he reached it. Instead, he lifted his foot and kicked it in like they had with the bedroom door back at the tavern.
"Where is she?" he demanded from Dain as shouting erupted from everywhere in the building.
"Third floor, last room on the left," Dain quickly replied.
Taredd didn't hang around downstairs waiting for the Demons to come to him. He headed straight up the stairs, swiftly ending the lives of anyone that stepped in his way. Between himself and Dain, they ripped apart every Demon that came at them, throwing their lifeless bodies down the stairs behind them.
When they reach the room where she was being held, Dain split off so he could hunt down any other Demons that were lurking around the building, while Taredd went in to rescue Natalia.
Without hesitation, Taredd kicked the door down and burst into the room just in time to see a male Demon pinning Natalia face down on a bed. The Demon was posed above her, about to rape her.
Seeing red at the sight of Natalia laying underneath the Demon with tears gleaming in her eyes, Taredd stormed over to the bed and grabbed the Demon by the back of the neck. Taredd then threw the Demon as hard as he could against the wall on the opposite side of the room.
Before the Demon had a chance to recover, Taredd was on him once again. This time, instead of throwing him again, Taredd pinned him against the wall and grabbing the males dick, ripping it straight off his body without any effort.
When the Demon opened his mouth in a silent scream, Taredd stuffed the severed dick into his mouth.
Still not satisfied, Taredd began pummelling the Demons face with his fist until he was unrecognizable. Then he ripped the male’s body in half, and throwing it to either side of himself.
Covered in blood, Taredd turned around to face Natalia. She was sat in a ball, cuddling her legs against herself as her body shook. Taredd slowly walked over to the bed again. He crouched down in front of her and reached out his arms.
Natalia didn't hesitate, even seeing that he was covered in blood from the many Demons he killed trying to reach her, she threw herself into his open arms and clung tightly to him.
"I'm sorry,” he whispered into her ear as he held her tightly, stroking the back of her hair. "I'm so sorry."
Natalia didn't say a word as silent tears fell from her eyes as she held on to him.
"Is she okay?" Dain asked as he walked in the room.
"She will be," Taredd told him.
She was going to be okay because Taredd was going to make sure she was, even if it was the last thing he ever did.
Looking over his shoulder at Dain, he said: "Her clothes are shredded to pieces, can you find something to cover her with so we can get out of here?"
"Yeah, of course. I think I saw a blanket in one of the other rooms," Dain said as he turned and hurried to grab one of the blankets for her.
"Natalia, look at me," he coaxed. When she did, he told her "You're safe now, my love."
"I knew you would come for me,” she whispered.
"Always,” he told her. "I will always come for you."
Dain came rushing back in the room a moment later, carrying a large blanket in his hands. It wasn't the cleanest blanket in the world, but it would do to get her back to the tavern without anyone seeing her naked body, because the bits of fabric still hanging on her barely covered anything.
"Here you go." Dain handed it to Taredd. "This should be big enough."
"Thanks,” he said, taking it from Dain so he could wrap it around Natalia.
She didn't say a word, but she did look warily at Dain.
"Don't worry about him," Taredd told her. "This is Dain, one of the friends I was telling you about."
"Hi,” she said quietly.
"It's nice to meet you." Dain bowed his head. "But I'm sorry it had to be under these circumstances."
Not giving Natalia a chance to protest, as soon as she was completely wrapped up in the blanket, Taredd slid his arms underneath her and gently picked her up, then stood and carried her out of the room.
It didn't matter if she could walk easily enough on her own, Taredd wanted… needed… to hold her tight against him. If that meant carrying her all the way back to the tavern with her protesting the entire way, then so be it.
