"Urm... yeah... I wouldn't want that to happen either,” she said, unsure if he meant it or not.
Natalia wouldn't want him to kill anyone for her... well, except for the Demons that had kidnapped her, she was glad he had killed them. But she certainly wouldn't want him to kill his friends because of something none of them could control or prevent.
“Dain isn’t a Demon, is he?” she asked.
“No, he’s a Shapeshifter,” Taredd told her.
“Is your other friend a Shapeshifter, or a Demon?”
“Neither,” he smiled. “Arun’s a Fae.
Wrapping the blanket tighter around herself, she shuffled over to the empty chair next to Taredd. As soon as she was settled, he slid the table closer for her.
"Thank you,” she said.
"You're welcome."
Natalia didn't know where to start, there was so much food to choose from that she ended up sitting there staring at it all for a couple of minutes before finally diving in.
"None of it's poisonous, if that's what you're worried about," Taredd told her.
"I know,” she said. "I trust you."
"What's the problem then?"
"There's just so much to choose from. I've never had such a wide variety to choose from before,” she told him honestly.
Most of the time Natalia was lucky to have breakfast. It wasn't as much of a priority as lunch or dinner, so more often than not, everyone skipped it. All except for any children in the group, but there hadn't been any children in their group for many years.
"Here," Taredd said, passing her a plate with some flat looking bread on it. "Try this. I think you'll like it."
Taking the plate from him, she held it up to her face and sniffed. Luckily enough it didn't smell like the fish. Natalia didn't think she could stomach anything that smelt that bad at this time of the morning. Dinner maybe, but definitely not for breakfast.
"Mmm..." Natalia moaned after she finally took a bit.
She didn't know if it was because she was hungry, or if the food really did taste this good, but it was the best she had ever eaten before. Light and fluffy like freshly baked bread, but with a sweet taste.
"Next time you see Dain, please tell him I said thank you,” she told Taredd.
"You can tell him yourself," Taredd said. "He should be back soon."
"Where's he gone?" she asked, unsure if Taredd would actually tell her.
But Taredd didn't hesitate in telling her. "He's sorting out some transport for us."
"Transport?" she asked, confused.
"Yeah, just a horse and cart."
"Really?" she asked excitedly.
"Yes, really,” he told her.
Natalia knew people used to use different modes of transport before the great war, but since then Humans had moved from place to place by foot. Motor vehicles didn't work anymore, she didn't know what caused them to stop working, but as soon as the war started anything motorized or mechanical all of a sudden stopped working.
Animals were another form of transport her kind used as well, but when some of the beings that were hunting them could turn into one of them, then it made it more difficult to know which was a real animal and which was a monster in disguise. So, they were left with using their own two feet to get them from point A to point B.
"Wow, I've never been on a horse and cart before,” she told him. "We always travel by foot. Have you been on one before?"
